Is this basket legal for level 2? (I know a straight ride is legal but I'm curious about the technique before executing the basket)... I'm in a bit of a debate with my cp because I've always thought that flyers hands should be braced on her bases shoulders before a toss and not held up where she is not supporting herself before a toss in order to execute correct technique....

    Thanks!

There is no rule against this.
In recent years we have seen lots of teams start doing stunts with "no hands" like full ups, 1.5 ups, etc. Although this is my first time seeing it be done in a basket. Completely legal though

Level 5, but CA Wildcats do it this year! Yea, I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter how you start it.

If you watch an acrobatic gymnastics routine or a college Acro Tumble meet, they start most tosses similar to this

Posting so it'll be easier for me to find this when I want to show someone.

Our junior groupstunt is using this technique depending which basket the flyer is doing. Back Tuck or X-out Baskets she loads in the "regular" way, but everything flipping and twisting to the front she is standing on bases hands with her hands not touching their shoulders. She´s a gymnast and finds it easier - guess it depends on what coaches think it´s best.
But i´ve always been curious if the "hands-free" full-ups is just for the visual effect or has an explanation like it´s easier with chest already up - or does it add difficulty? Maybe someone can answer this :)
