At Level 4. Can a Prep without a backspot do a double down dismount to a cradle?

The prep has both bases with their hands set under the feet of the flyer as they would normally in a prep just no backspot behind. Also, does it matter if one of the bases catch the cradle as a backspot would catch it.

My interpretation of the rules was that since both athletes supporting the stunt are UNDER the feet only this is a multi-based stunt and must have two catchers and a separate spotter to catch the cradle.

So is a double down from a prep done with 2 bases both under the feet of the flyer legal?

illegal... If one base holds the ankle and foot they are considered a spotter and it is single based stunt.... Than lega

    1. Cradles from single based stunts must have a separate spotter with at least one hand-arm supporting the waist to shoulder region to protect the head and shoulder area through the cradle.
    2. Cradles from multi-based stunts must have two catchers and a separate spotter with at least one hand-arm supporting the waist to shoulder region to protect the head and shoulder area through the cradle
A prep with 2 bases holding the feet is considered a multi bases stunt and requires an additional spotter. If it were to become a single based stunt with a spot, then you don't need anyone extra

The above quoted section of the rules is what I read too. Thank you for your post

So to be clear, if 2 athletes are under a prep and all 4 of their hands (2 per athlete) are under the feet of the flyer, they are both bases (not a spotter) and this is considered a multi-based stunt and must have two catchers AND a separate spotter to do even a cradle much less a double down to a cradle, correct?

Is there anything specific the 2 athletes under the stunt can do to make this legal, specifically with their grip. For example: if one of the athletes under the prep stunt altered their grip to say keep their front hand under the toe/middle of the foot of the flyer and move their back hand to the ankle/calf area, would that grip change be sufficient to qualify that athlete under the prep as a spotter and make this a single based stunt with 1 base and 1 spotter? Or would more need to happen like one of the athletes under the stunt holding the flyer in more of a coed "hands" position with one of their hands under each of the feet of the flyer and the other athlete supporting the ankle/calf of the flyer and a wrist of the base?

Go with the bolded option.
