VAS is doing their level 5/6 assessments tonight. I have no idea when they’re gonna announce teams, or if they have a tentative idea of what teams they’re going to have based off returning athletes, though.

I would also love to start a list of gyms with 5.0 teams. This retired athlete could come out of retirement if one starts up near me!

Cheersport Sharks just announced a 5.0 in both Cambridge and Ottawa - 2 big collage/university areas so I expect they'll attract the athletes.

If it's true (it's been confirmed yes?) it's the 2nd Ontario competition in the last month where world bid announcements were incorrect!!

    What was the other one?

I'm not sure if OCF made a mistake (based on the bid declaration for the event) or if they simply made a choice that was questionable. As far as I know they haven't said anything.

ATC - Feel the Power East: At least one extra bid (I think 2?) were awarded several days later due to an error.

I've seen both events and if it's true FTP was questionnable for lots of reasons...OCF was by far, the worst.

It starts with the bid declaration that said : 1 partial paid bid to the highest score of the day, and 3 at large ( 1 level 6, 1 level 5 and 1 to an Ontario team + 1 reserved for Global / NT teams)

Flyers All Starz Shock L6 from Montreal got the highest score but didn't get the partial paid, they gave it to Kingston Elite who had a terrific 2nd run but not so much for run 1, Shock had 2 Hit Zero for the day.

But that's not the worst because it was a close call and KE did perform great at least for their 2nd run so that's that.

The worst part came when Flyers All Starz Intensity in the Global division lost the reserved bid for Global/NT teams even tough they were 1st overall after run 1 and added another Hit Zero in the 2nd, still, officials decided to award the bid to an NT team from Ontario, Silky Sharks, who got a whooping 61 (Yeah, you read that right...) in run 1 and didn't do that much better in run 2.

Overall, Flyers World Teams (Fearless, Shock and Intensity) from Montreal dominated the competition with all Hit Zeros for the day, ended up 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the standings, but went home with no bids. They were all given to Ontario teams... Fearless already had theirs so they won their division and everything's well with them. Shock also had an at large bid but should've ended up with the partial.

The biggest disappointment came when Intensity didn't win the Global/NT bid because as soon as they announced Silky Sharks (Who scored 61...) had the bid for NT, everybody tought Intenstity was gonna get the partial, there was just no way around it, at least everybody tought so but the judges...

We were weary that something wasn't right all day when we saw coaches and owners spending most of their time around the judges table arguing and sorting things out, then when scores from 1st run came out, it confirmed why there was so much action around the table because every team had at least 10 to 12 points lower than what we're accustomed to (Highest score run 1 was a 87) and routines we know normally score between 93 and 95 were reduced to 83-85, a team even scored an all time low (At least for me) with a 27 ! But this, we could do with because if you substract the same amount to every team, while weird, it's still fair.

Just to give you an idea of how things were messed up, by the end of the day, before the award ceremony, coaches/owners were told that since there was all sorts of trouble with the scoring, it could still be anybody's ball game because they were gonna go by impression instead of the scoresheets...well, we all saw how that went !

I will end this long post with a couple of observations of my own wich I think shows the lack of professionalism going on that day : 1st off, I saw judges handing out there scoresheets even before athletes would get off the floor, I know some of them can do it because their part is over and done with but it's not that usual to see and shows a lack of respect in my opinion...2nd, we started the day with 8 judges, and by the end of the event, they were 6, even worst, one of the 6 got up, explained is work to a newbie and just left the building ! So he judged run 1, a part of run 2 and left with 5 or 6 teams L5 / L6 Worlds still to come.

Just so you know, Kingston Elite showed great class and sportsmanship by requesting of OCF officials that they award the partial bid to Flyers Shock since they didn't have the highest scores and they knew it. Flyers also did some requests and negociations between teams and event officials are still going on to this day, which is why scores for run 2 are still unavailable.

Well, that's about it for me and what I got out of the weekend drama going on in Ontario ! ;)

I don't mean to highjack this thread with long posts but I just have to share with you the class acts that are Flyers All Starz and Kingston Elite by copying here the statement made by Flyers on their Facebook page :

"About yesterday’s event at the OCF’s competition.

As some of you may or may not know, yesterday was a great day for Flyers All Starz in Cornwall at the OCF competiton performance wise. All our teams hit zero, that is all 6 worlds team’s runs AND all Flyers Ottawa teams!

When it came to results we respected the bid announcements, as they were the juges choices, but some of us were still uncertain as of how thoses choices were made, especially in regards of our Global L5 team intensity, which in our opinion should have got a at large bid, considering they had the highest score after round 1 and that had the highest score of all Global\NT teams.

As for the partial paid bid, which was promised by the bid declaration to the overall highest score, we all congratulated the team of Kingston Elite as were announced. Our entire programs has such respect for Kinston Elite’s program, Flyers have been looking up to them for a long time, first it was for their lengendary Senior coed 4 in the early 2000’s, then it became for their amazing cleanleness and their exeptionnal sportsmanship, and they now have one of the best worlds teams in the country.

This morning, as the tally of the results came out from ocf, it seems that the combined scores from round 1 and 2 of shock was, while being really really close to Kingston Elite, was in fact the highest of the competition.

Now being aware of this, the Kingston Elite team and staff did something incredible, and immediatly contacted the OCF to ask that, in the event that it’s true that in fact Shock had a better score than them, to give away their well earned partial paid bid to Shock. This is one of the biggest sportsmanship example Flyers has ever witnessed, and it isn’t surprising that it came from the Kingston Elite Program!

The OCF is in the review process, and they are the only ones that can officialise anything. They would be the ones announcing anything that would be official, but as of now nothing is official. We now publictly request that the OCF organisation not only grants Kingston Elite’s request, but that they grant Kingston’s team an at large bid, as they MORE than deserved it. We would also request that the OCF reevaluates the overall bid results, as we find that Intensity, our global club team, might have deserved one as well.

Finally, we totally understand that running a perfect event is impossible, that the OCF team did their very best running it all yesterday, we are in no way mad at the organisation, we only hope that they can keep trying to make things right for everyone, and at least evaluate our requests seriously.

Kingston Elite will forever be able count on our support and friendship, even more now than before, and we hope the relation between our teams and club can keep going for years and years ahead.

If you feel this post is worthy, please feel free to share this.

Wow. Event producers need to be A LOT more transparent. OCF has never been great in my opinion, but it's a shame Cheer Evo no longer posts scores.

Cheer Evolution does post scores if you're a coach. They are provided the password which gives you access to the full breakdowns of each score?

Do coaches see all the scores or only their own?

I still think participants should be able to see scores. I mean, why hide them?
