It's tough being a parent regardless of the sport. In cheer it's difficult because most of us can't take an active role in coaching our children. As a new "cheer dad" I have to depend on my daughters coaches a lot more than I would for a lot of other sports.
I do see a few of the Moms at my kiddo's gym that seem to live through thier children, one I almost cussed out because she was yelling at her daughter, but my wife and I never cheered so its a little easier for us.
I did have to have a meeting with the gym owner over a decision that was made about my daughters team I didn't agree with (Yes I became "that parent".) last week but I was looking out for my daughters best interests.
It's hard to walk that line between being supportive and being obnoxious.

Although I am new to posting on the fierceboard, I am nowhere close to being new to cheer, or lurking this board
I think that alot of people think parents are living thru their kids and that's just not the case. Being involved and living thru your kids can be a very fine line.
