Most other sports have a preseason ranking system to predict what the upcoming season will be like. However on the FierceBoard, this is highly frowned upon doing until March pretty much. Why is this like this? Why cant we use what we know and have something to do for fun in the preseason. Maybe we can even make some type of contest out of it.

Most other sports know the talent and what people can do at the start, cheer is different. The routine you have in December is no comparison to the one you have in March. You add things, hopefully more difficult, as everyone gets to to know everyone and and you try different combinations. We all know that one comp you can crank out a good performance and the next day or comp it can fall apart. I think it is very difficult to predict what will happen this early in the year.

unless you give me a list of every kid on the teams' skills and a breakdown of what they'll be performing, there isn't anything to predict off of. past successes do not dictate future success and cheerleading is just different.

you can rank football in the preseason, because you know the players. you know the offense and defense and who was brought in during the draft. you can watch skills tapes and predict how they will work together and stack up against their competitors. while the teams/players may change, the game of football is always the same. a cheerleading routine is never the same. heck, you'd even have to predict only based on certain scoresheets. IMO, it just doesn't work.
