Are the fees reduced for the second team or have I been making that up in my head?

You pay tuition for the first team plus $20 for crossovers. So the year R was on JE and SE we paid $125 for JE plus $20 for crossing to SE. Then a one time crossover fee in March (?!) of $150 to cover any competitions we did that SE competed and JE didn't. (Because we were on the JE competition fee structure). I tried to ballpark how much I was spending per hour to have CSP coach my kid that year, just out of curiosity and it came to around $4.00 an hour. That was tuition only divided by the apprx hours of practice instruction she had gotten. I'm not complaining. Lol

(Side note.....I was actually trying to figure out how many hours she had gotten out of her Nfinitys that season and that lead to how much is it costing me per hour to cheer. I'm a night owl and sometimes I get bored. Bwahahaha).

That's a STEAL for that kind of stellar training! I am waaayyyyy jealous LOL...in the very best way though...

This isn't really directed at you, your post just got me thinking, but I keep seeing people talk about how "innovative" CSP is for making a larger senior elite that she will cut into to Senior Elite and a medium senior. This isn't any different than what Woodlands Elite or Brandon(and other gyms, those are just examples) do with level 5 workout groups that they eventually divide up into different teams. Or even what Black Ops, Wildcats, or TGLC are doing by having more athletes than spots to create the best possible team and then moving the extra athletes to open spots different teams. Not a big deal, I guess I just don't see how forming senior elite this way is any different or more innovative than what other gyms/teams do.
Maryland Twisters has been doing something like this as well. Training by level for a few weeks and then dividing into teams. I think it is a great idea and can help alleviate so many changes.

Fun activity:

Some of my parents once started calculating the cost of the skills that their kid has.

As in, how many total $ were spent on privates/classes/etc. to get their BHS, tuck, etc.

Talk about eye-opening!

The bhs, full and standing tuck were expensive. (And so long ago I can't even tell you how much it was). Everything else has been through regular team tumbling or Saturday tumbling classes that are included in our tuition!

So, can you remember how much they said?

This made me giggle. It took me forever to get my standing tuck, then I have friends who learned it in less than a week. It's one of those skills you will get quickly or it will take a long long time.

What are they planning on doing about the new Summit crossover rules? I saw several kiddos crossing Y5 to Y3 again.

Thank goodness for the new rules. That is totally unfair when a team has primarily Y5 athletes on Y3 going against gyms who level appropriate athletes. Was so glad to see GymTime Glitter win Summit with a true Y3 team. Thank you Summit now lets hope this becomes an industry standard.

I'm always curious what a "true level" team means. How does anyone outside the parents/coaches know a team's true level? Just because a gym don't use crossovers doesn't mean that the majority of the cheerleaders on a level 3 team havent been on a level 3 team more than one season, have a speciality passes through to fulls and are working on double downs in stunt class?
I get what you're saying but I think the assumption that if you don't use crossovers means the team is truly at the level they are competing isn't entirely accurate.
The isn't directed at GT Glitter. Just a general observation from the previous post.

I know for sure that a kid who took privates with me and cheered at another gym has a close to $1,000 standing BHS (This includes privates and classes and privates across two gyms, over the course of about a year and a half, and battling an off-and-on mental block due to injuries.)

I'm sure that's a drop in the bucket compared to what others have spent.

Ignorance may be bliss for some of you. lol.

I just added up what it cost me for the two years my daughter was on her gymnastics pre-team. Painful. Then I added up what it would have cost me had she decided to stick with it and do a year of team; I feel like cheer is a veritable bargain to gymnastics at this point:)

I disagree with this...I think, when my daughter was doing gymnastics, the cost was considerably less and the reason for this, I paid a monthly fee which was like the same amount as cheer tuition, however, gymnastics everything was inclusive - tumbling and the hours were like 10 hrs a week...but cheer, the hours are less and you most of the time paying separately for tumbling, by way of open gyms, tumbling and/or privates...

I must admit, I spent($$$) a lot on fulls and standing tucks...
