We've had that happen before! We've had "lightning entrances" or "lightning exits" where we had to start or finish the party inside the house because we can't send the PNMs outside when it's lightning. We still cheered and lead the girls out, we just kind of deposited them in our front two rooms and silently prepared for the next round. It usually happened at least once a year so we made sure to start practicing it during work week.

Recruitment was like that in Arizona too...Rush is during monsoon season.

Anyone Pi Beta Phi, Kappa Alpha Theta or Alpha Phi pretty please willing to write a rec for Little Miss Congeniality?

We made it thru recruitment - I say we because I often had to give advice whether she wanted to hear it or not :) but she hung in there. It was a week full of excitement, nerves, self-doubt and emotions all over the place. She knew going in as a Junior she would have a harder time and she did and all the Juniors were in the same position she was. She actually had a full schedule though for every round - so that was really surprising. Some girls in her group that were freshman didn't have a full schedule every day- some got released altogether. A few quit after being dropped from the houses they wanted. She did get released from 2 at the very end that she really liked but she knew that could happen. I am proud of how she handled the week and she actually ended up in a great chapter and she is very happy. She is a new member of Delta Zeta :)

I know nothing about sororities but reading these make me wish we had them @ GB. Can a person go through rush week and not get picked to be in a sorority at all?

YAY!!! Please welcome her from me! My years as an active DZ were some of the most fun I've had. Not surprised she had a full schedule as a Jr though...she's probably more comfortable in her skin and able to relate to the sisters better.

Yes. You can finish Rush and have no bids offered to you.

Yes- depending on how they rank their last parties called preference round. Most schools you can go to up to 3. You may not have 3 to go to but if you go to all the parties you are invited to and rank them you should be matched to one of them and receive a bid. If you only list one or two but went to 3 you may not receive a bid. It sounds a little more complicated than it is. There have been times a girl may walk away without a bid even when ranking all her pref parties she just wasn't high enough on her parties list before they all made quota to receive a bid but that is rare.

Okay so if you don't get in one your first year trying for a bid can you participate in rush week and try again the following year? btw for all snapchatters, there is a rush week snap story that's currently happening

Yes you can rush the following year. You can also be COB'd, which basically means you're given a bid outside of the whole recruitment/bid day thing.

I want to join a sorority when I go to college next fall, but I'm having trouble convincing some of my friends that sororities are more than just parties. I don't really care what they think but just wondering what would be a good way to show them? Eta: Any sorority alum from UNR?

Yes. At South Carolina you sign a bid card when you vote on on pref night basically saying you will accept a bid from either sorority you prefed (or the one, if you suicided. But then you run the risk of no bid at all.) Signing a bid card forbids you from rushing again for a full calendar year. That includes COBing.

Once you're into the third round you're guaranteed a bid from one of the chapters you visit that round. (At SC that's the case. Other schools might not work the same). It's reaaaaally rare to get cut from all chapters there.
