Now I wouldn't put it past Varsity to have a typo on the bid winners list. But, there is at least one team that is listed as having a D1 bid and is competing D2 at NCA. Now if this is an error, hypothetically speaking, is there a rule that prevents teams from doing this? If not, there should be.
There is one at Cheersport also. They are in the same division as my CP's team.

I agree. While it's the same age/level it seems almost equivalent to dropping a level for an easier NCA jacket. There are some phenomenal D2 gyms, but I am sure they [the teams changing to D2 after the can clearly hang in D1 and receive a bid to D1 Summit] see this as an easier win.

Tagging @ASCheerMan because maybe this is something NCA can make a rule about for next season. (I know he's super busy currently, but in case he sees this ;))
I feel like this is something that would be hard to control for just one competition, it would need to be USASF/Varsity-wide. Since NCA registration is so far out from the actual competition, a team could compete in D1 weeks before NCA, yet still be registered for D2 at NCA.

I've found 2 at NCA now, which makes me think it's less likely to be an error. I figured we would see teams going D2 to D1 during the season, but not the other way around.

They can go back and forth all season long.

I just don't get why a team would compete in D2 if they've already received a D1 Summit bid.

exactly. if you're willing to compete against all D1 teams at arguably the biggest/hardest competition of the season, wouldn't you want to compete against your actual competitors to see how you're scoring and where you stack up? guess not.

Cheersport also put a large team in with the small teams in D2 in my CP's division. That team has already won a D2 bid and are listed as a large team on the Summit site.

Yesterday at Athletic Championships- same gym had different teams listed for D2 and for regular summit. And they have teams with D2 bids and regular. This was multiple teams. If they are big enough to have teams and coaches spread across Florida in the same weekend..... Rant over.

Vizion took both paid bids this weekend. One was their senior 3 coed (amazing team- well deserved). Ohio extreme small J4 received an at large. Their small Y3 has an at large as well but is still not listed on the varsity summit page. [emoji849]
