They recently cut tons in the past years!wonder if they will do it again...
it makes me sad for talented teams out there who peak too late or go through challenges (injuries, ppl quitting, illness) that barely miss a bid &&& should be on that mat over other teams.

Also... I really hope they don't cut them any more. Yeah tragic teams should not be on the worlds mat, but worlds is what a lot of teams work for all year and it is the best thing ever. I wish everyone could experience the feeling of being on a worlds mat & how fun it is in general.

might i say.... I've seen videos of Gabi basing an actual level 5 elite sequence, regardless of if it was just a random thrown together elite, or an actual team's elite, she based it, and if my memory serves me correctly, she hit it. basing just requires practice, (i know it isn't for everyone) i'm pretty sure she can get Cali Aces' elite sequence, so she'll be fine. and about the gym movement.... She cheered top gun for 2-3 years? same with Cali.... what is so wrong about that???? and if people wanna travel the country to be on a certain team, let them! but this is a convo for a another thread....

I know nothing about Angel's gym, but if they are successful I'd say her mom has a lot to do with that. Her mom has been a part of this industry for years and has the experience to know what works and what doesn't work. That experience is what Gabi's dream was missing.

But I've seen nothing of the gym so they could be doing just as poorly. I hope they're not, though.

I agree with this. I remember the announcement being made that she was doing it, but until it was mentioned here I forgot this gym even potentially existed---like, oh, it's a real thing...that's cool. Unlike Gabi, Angel didn't throw together a World's level team and then go compete it---hot mess or not, unless you follow Angel I doubt anyone knows the gyms exists.

I'm not sure their website is updated but, staff wise, her mom isn't listed on Halo Elite. Kiera Rice is listed as the head cheer coach and tumbling coach. Halo Elite Cheer and Tumble - Staff
The mom's twitter states she is a tumble coach at ATA, if that is current, as well.

TBH. Watching prelims last year I don't think the teams were terrible. Were there a few janky teams that would prob do well in level 4? Sure. But as a hole I don't think 2015 worlds prelims was as tragic as people make it seem. I thought last year was an improvement.

Agreed. I started watching a few of the at-large bid teams videos from this season to help with the bracket and the few that I watched looked pretty solid. There likely will be a few train wrecks as there usually is, but hopefully not as many/as bad as it has been in the past.

There are usually stretches of solid in between a parade of "you could kill it in R5 but instead you're throwing deathcopter doubles."

I saw many teams at prelims who should not even be level 5. Maybe they weren't train wrecks but still shouldn't be a Worlds team.

Oh I agree that there are definitely still teams that shouldn't be level 5, it just seems that there have been less and less these past couple years compared to before.
