I don't see nearly as many open back, shoulder, ect uniforms for pom as for things like jazz and contemporary.

I agree with you. I was simply pointing out that the chest area really does take a pounding in all-star dance too.

Cheer is emulating much of what has been out in the dance world for a while.

I can't compare dance to cheer, but regarding gymnastics, I have never seen a leotard like this at elite competitions. I'm not sure the comparison is valid unless you are comparing practice wear. Also, elite gymnasts don't really have any issues past a B cup, so something like this would work far better than it would for many athletes who cheer.

Elite leotards are totally fine but they also have a rule about it. I know back can't go past the lower line of their shoulder blades. And this rule should be in allstar cheer also.
But don't even get me started with NCAA leos and their backs. Girls have to tape their boobs and we are talking about college girls here.

No, I haven't seen it in gymnastics either, which is my point. As much as I would love for our kids to blow the media up on AS for its sport and technique value (like gymnastics), it tends to blow up more over uniforms, music, and routine creativity which are entertainment (like dance). The uniforms aren't following a sport, they are following the entertainment category because, that's what our kids, and majority of parents, talk about on social media when they talk about AS. Not a single solitary gymnastic parent I know talks about posh ponies, spray tans, or eyelashes. Sports care about practicality, entertainment cares nothing about practicality.

I know this is a fake, "look what we can do" prototype, but WHY? and HOW could that even be slightly comfortable?
