Geez, I promise I only let cp's Grammy come to one competition. I'd like to apologize to any cheerleader, parent, light guy, music guy, judge, security, Dippin' Dot guy, Pizza guy, bow guy, photographer, that she may have encountered on that day. With that said, we all have those days we could have used an extra shot of prune juice....ok, so I probably should have been nicer to the guy who kept whacking me in the head with his backpack while I was sitting in the row ahead of him...;)

I really need to meet granny! The way you've described her in the past cracks me up! Is she really that bad? LOL!

I love Grammy, but Grammy has no filter, and if you meet her, you will not walk away not knowing what she thinks of your hair, teeth, nails and posture.

I have experienced a big gym being very rude! At a comp they stood at the front of the VIP area to watch 3 teams compete. They were actually scheduled to go on after us. When our team was up they just stood there and pretty much blocked us! So when our music started none of us were in front of the stage and our kids and coach,( who was on stage with the I5 team)were like WTH? I have never been so angry! We were all screaming at them to please move which they did not and they looked at us like we were all crazy. Let me say they still are not one if my favorite gyms especially when I heard another parent say they did the same thing to them earlier that same day!

I know that this has happened once or twice where I (and many more of us from a Big Gym) thought our team was next, but the schedule had been changed. Schedules get changed a lot the morning of, last minute, etc. People with iPads could call up and see the correct/new schedule. But most people, like myself, were going from what was printed from a computer the night before. If a small gym's crowd is waiting at the wrong time, it is easier to get around them than if a big gym's crowd is up there waiting in the VIP area with many more people. I have had the reverse happen as well, where we were waiting back and another gym was in front of us, only to learn our team was going on first. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt and blame it on scheduling changes, and the poor set up of loading and unloading of the VIP area in some venues.

I have been hearing lots of stories lately about big gyms being rude and ignorant to other small gyms as well as fans. Have you ever experienced big gyms or famous cheerleaders being rude?
I think I'm confused. What stories have you heard about big gyms being "ignorant to small gyms"?

Not when announcement are clearly made about who in the hole, on deck, and our teams logo is flashed when we r up. They looked at us without stepping aside and blocked everyone from our gym! Most gyms when they realize the order is changed will step aside and open a pathway! Nope not them. Sorry no excuse that day!

At Nationals this year in july there were scheduling changes without anyone knowing until an announcement was made "So and so allstars will be competing later in the schedule to to injury in warm up soooo moving to the next team" I think it wasnt the best idea as I saw a couple of parents abit worried because they thought it might be their kid

I like to put on shirts from big gyms and go around being mean to people from small gyms. Makes the other big gyms look bad. And it doesn't take very long since the gyms are small, they only have a couple of parents rooting for them.

I assumed she was trying to say arrogant.
And using this as a jumping off post, I agree with what everyone else has said. You've got your bad apples and your good apples everywhere. I'd like to add though, that every time I hear the stigma big gym = rude people, I think of an Instagram picture I saw of the Cheer Athletics coaches (for wildcats, maybe? Or a level 6 team) cheering like crazy for every international team at Worlds, because they didn't have anyone there from their countries to cheer for them. If anyone in the industry has any right to be cocky, it's them, what with their multiple worlds titles and whatnot. But they aren't. And on the same note, I'm sure there were small gym members cheering right beside them.

Way a minute, when I post something people can disagree or ignore me? WTH, why didn't anyone tell me?

Feeling sad because cheernerd5678 burst my bubble

Psst, to be honest Cheer Dad, we were hoping you just go away... ;)

I think also big gyms have some sort of prestige and confidence about them, an outsider who doesn't feel like they measure up or have a misinterpretation of confidence/arrogance will take everything that a big gym athlete does to heart.
