I think I am the only person that does this... But I've always grown up calling fountain drinks "soda" and bottle drinks "pop" - because soda comes from a sods fountain and you pop the bottle open? Lol I don't actually even know why - I've just always said it that way.
Not sure if I am remembering correctly, but aren't you originally from upstate NY? That and any city that borders Canada are the only places in the US I've ever heard use "pop".

Yes - Rochester. And my mom worked half time in Rochester and half time in Toronto. So that would make sense.

So, when I come to nyc and get my "egg cream" - that will be soda. :)

I can't go to my sophomore year of college because I failed my english exam today. uhh okay....

Wait... whaaat  ? How high are the expectations in Slovenia in English language ? Because from what I've seen, you have a pretty decent level. And this means you have to wait a year to take the exam again ? If so, it sucks !

In South Dakota it is also called "pop".

The use of the word "pop" instead of soda really throws me off

I lived in Ohio...when I learned to talk I guess, so when I was little I said "pop". Then we moved back to South Carolina and I said "soda-pop". Now I just say "soda".

My dad lived in Ohio growing up and says pop.

My dads half brother calls Starburst, "tarts". That one I've never understood. I'm not even sure where hes technically from to try to decipher where he got that from.

As for Cheerwine... I'll only drink it if its apart of a float

I recall it being Pop on New England when I visited my grandparents.

Double post, but sending a huuuuge hug over to Slovenia! And also wanting to know what they expected for that exam. Do you have to wait a year or can you take other classes? Could you do an internship in your field of study if you can't take other classes?

The exam was about politics...I had to translate some words about slovenian politic and stuff like that which is pretty hard but I failed it by 2 points out of 100 which makes me so mad. And I have to pass at least 8 exams (out of 10) so I can go to sophomore year. I failed 3 (two plus english) so I cant go to university next year. I have to stay at home, pass those 3 exams and wait until another student year which sucks just because of those 2 stupid points at english exam.

I honestly wouldn't put it past them.

Urban Outfitters is garbage. They're a terrible company. They release all these lines of clothing that they think is edgy but its down right repulsive and disgusting, and then charge outrageous amounts of money for it. And then they will pull the line and claim "we didn't know, it was a mistake, we didn't know it would offend anyone." Yeah freaking right.

They are the lowest of the low. I don't know what kind of people work there who think that making money off of Kent State blood spattered sweatshirts, t shirts that glamorize mental health issues like eating disorders and depression, Jewish Star sweaters, etc, is an ok thing. Clearly they are doing it for shock value but there are people who will actually buy this stuff and think it's cool.

There is a special place reserved in the lowest pits of Hell for the corporate people at Urban Outfitters.

And that's my rant of the day.

a few months back they were selling a t-shirt that either said "EAT LESS" or "STOP EATING" i don't recall which atm, but really? it's a shame because sometimes i really love some things they're selling, but i refuse to give them money.

Nobody probably cares BUT, I've suffered from SEVERE acid reflux disease & GERD (most people think they're the same thing but they have a few differences) since about sixth grade. I've been on Nexium for the past 9 years but lately I've been still getting heartburn almost every other day and i'm going to say LISTEN TO YOUR GRANDMAS REMEDIES. I recently learned mixing a tablespoon of baking soda in about a little rinse cup and drinking it neutralizes it instantly! Give it a few seconds, you'll probably let a few big burps and VIOLA! heartburn gone. It's seriously been a lifesaver.

This is late, but I CARE! I'm on a prescription for daily Prilosec and it's helping a little I think, but I still get the heart burn. Endoscopy revealed nothing useful. The GI was pretty useless - here's a prescription for Prilosec. Okay? Should I ever come back? Just keep refilling this until I can't anymore? What do I doooo. So now my PCP is having me go to a nutritionist to help me figure out what foods make it better/worse.

Maybe I'll give it a try. My husband and family know by now that when I start burping all over the place, I'm probably pretty uncomfortable.
