Also going to men's Olympic Trials... Josh Dixon, Glen Ishino, Steven Legendre, CJ Maestas, and Alex Naddour. Congrats to them all! Should be an exciting Trials!

Ok, the girls as a whole need to step it up, Danell Leyva high bar might be the sickest gymnastics I've ever seen Men's or Women's

I think that Aly and Jordan are the two that should feel the most confident. Aly because she is very consistent and she doesn't really crack under pressure. Jordyn because she is the best all around gymnast in the country at this point. As long as McKayla does well tomorrow and then does well again at trials, I think she will definitely be on the team too. Reason: her vault is the bets in the country and maybe even in the world, and she is a very well-rounded gymnast with lots of power. As for the last two spots, Gabby is definitely in the running and so is Kyla Ross. Gabby is not a definite only because she is a head case. She doesn't always take pressure well, and the Olympics is the biggest competition she will ever compete at. Ross is doing very well right now but depending on her trials performance, she might not be in. Those are just my thoughts.

From watching the webcast last night I am hoping the team ends up being:

Jordyn Weiber
Aly Raisman
Gabby Douglas
Kyla Ross
McKayla Maroney

That's my London team too. In team finals, I say..
Jordyn Wieber (VT, UB, BB, FX)
Aly Raisman (VT, BB, FX)
Gabby Douglas (UB, maybe VT or FX if needed)
Kyla Ross (UB, BB)
McKayla Maroney (VT, FX)

Then for alternates, I say Elizabeth Price, Sarah Finnegan, and really no idea who the last one should be.

The thing about London is that it is 3 up 3 count for a 5 member team. For the 2011 World Championships, Martha originally had Alicia and Anna there as specialists. When Alicia went down, Martha used the five all arounders who nailed the meet and brought home gold for the USA. I think this really proved to Martha that a team of all arounders is what USA will need to win in London. Let's be honest, after night one, Wieber, Douglas, Raisman and Ross are the country's best all around gymnasts. Maroney may be down in seventh all around, but not bringing her to London is basically throwing a vault medal away. She is still prepared on all four events.

All five of these gymnasts are capable (though Ross has some trouble) of competing an Amanar vault. Perfect, if anything happens and they need another vaulter, they've got one. On bars, Kyla proved herself night one scoring higher than Gabby. They are our top two bar workers, and though Jordyn is not an exceptional bar worker, she can set the table and start off the event. On beam, Kyla has great form and scores well, and Wieber and Raisman tend to be great on the apparatus. If one of the three falters, Gabby is good on beam too. For floor, Wieber and Raisman have it on lock. Maroney has high difficulty, but if she falters, Gabby can pull out a nice floor routine as well.

To be honest, I really don't think the USA needs specialists this time around. Alicia is a vault specialist, but USA has better vaulters. Nastia is working to be a bars and beam specialist, but if she can't get it together on bars, they really don't need her. The same goes for Becca with bars and beam, and Anna Li on bars.

A few things I have opinions on:
a. You guys shouldn't be insulting Alicia by saying Aly looks like her.
b. Nastia looks better on bars with mistakes than every single American gymnast.
c. I hate that Danell Leyva did not win.
d. If Kyla Ross makes the Olympic team over Nastia, I give up.

I have a feeling or atleast I hope and pray that last night put some fire under Nastia and she worked her butt off today to be better prepared to come out and prove it was just a fluke, like she did at 2008 nationals on floor.

Martha isn't stupid, she knows Nastia can pull it out when she needs to. I genuinely don't think Kyla could handle the pressure. The Olympics will only be her.... 4th meet as a senior. I don't think I would count on her to do so well, if I remember correctly she was rather shaky at the Secret US Classic.

I think a lot will depend on if Nastia can redeem herself tomorrow and also do a good showing at U.S. trials should she be invited. I'm sure Marta is weighing whether Nastia is conditioned enough to pull off world class beam AND bars routines, and if its even worth taking a specialist vs. Kyla's lack of senior experience & pressure/consistency issues but all around capabilities if needed.

I think Nastia will be fine and I am rooting for her harder than I did in 2008. People also need to remember that was her first competition bars routine since bars finals in Beijing.

If she comes back strong on bars tomorrow, I might start counting her in. So far, I'm not too impressed. And believe me I want to be impressed, I am a huge fan of Nast. She signed my phone case! Lmao..

Kyla would be used for the 2 events Nastia does, that's what I'm assuming. They put up similar scores (I'm assuming Nastia's would be higher on bars without mistakes/dismount issues) on those 2 events, and I don't think Kyla would be needed on floor or vault with the others who are likely to make the team.

First time I've agree with 100% of any of your post lol, jk. I'm pulling for Alicia "redemption". Nastia might be one of the purest gymnast since Svetlana. As long as Danell Leyva hits that high bar, my Olympic dream is complete, absolutely insanesicknastyamazing! Nastia's sloppy beam is still breathtaking!

My guess is Alicia won't make it. She's dropped her chances almost completely by taking out floor. She still puts up amazing vault and beam scores, but I don't think it's enough unless someone cracks, which sucks =/
