Per our email from our gym..."all paid athletes will receive an Onyx ticket as part of their registration for the event." We were further instructed that when we "pre-purchased" our parent tickets, there was a place to upgrade the athletes Onyx tickets (which I saw when I purchased mine). We received this info on 1/22 and that the "presale" would begin on February 2. We would only have 1 week to purchase these presale tickets and we were given a purchasing code as well. Since there was the athlete "upgrade" available to Gold or Diamond, I can safely assume our athletes have Onyx tickets. Not sure if this is only for the "play in" and "League" teams.

Our gyms "play in" team's parents and J5 parents were told they had to purchase tickets for their athletes to stay and watch at the Galen Center. However the league team did not.

ETA- which venue

Don't know what to say about that...perhaps there were different registration costs. I know we paid $220 entry per athlete, so I am thinking that should be able to cover the $27 seat that my athlete may/or may not be utilizing....

I have the same info as @mecheermom and agree with @MissCongeniality
It's not separate registration fees, it's the EP's lack of clear information.

There are a few gyms that are renting out theaters for their athletes to watch. I know Carmike Cinemas is doing this for a very well known program. I know at some smaller gyms the parents are renting a theater for a team. Carmike's twitter mentioned CL also so I don't know if they'll run a deal for it or not.

The (above) is exactly the confusion parents are facing with this event.

News Bulletin for EPs etc. : We pay way too much money for this "sport" to have to deal with this BS and worry whether our children can get into an event, whether we will find a seat to watch our child's performance etc.

Some savvy parent is eventually going to spit out the kool aid and turn the IRS onto this whole "cash only" making the rules up as we go along ...industry...

ETA: there are honest folks involved with cheer...but it has become all too obvious that too many of the powers that be are so motivated by $$$...and we as parents are, quite honestly, their dupes.

Wasn't CL originally conceived ,created, and promoted by a group of gym owners? That's who would get my strongly worded email.

Seriously!! We kept being told that there are no "free" seats. I'm thinking, "what do you mean, Free?" We pay a small fortune in competition fees!! The website clearly said the athletes ticket was included with this fee. Yet, no tickets for our athletes :banghead:

So your gym got the early purchase option AND the Onyx ticket as part of registration???? There goes the only explanation that made any sense at all

I believe we have both invited teams and Wildcard teams from our gyms. So, maybe that's why we have to purchase tickets. The team from our specific gym was an invitee though.

For Wildcard teams, the schedule indicates you compete with the L1-5R at the Sports Arena. To watch that you will need to pay admission. Then the top eight Wildcards go compete Saturday evening at the Galen Center for the filming. And to watch the filming you have to purchase a ticket. Are you saying they made you buy a ticket for Saturday filming even though your team may not be performing? And if you're a J5 parent you have to buy a ticket to watch your team even if you don't plan to remain at the filming ? In addition for J5 to remain at the filming after they perform they too must purchase a ticket ?

You know the problem with the Wildcard teams is, if you don't buy a ticket in advance and your team makes it to filming you may have difficulty getting the ticket you want. They assign seats in the order they are purchased. And they may end up sold out for the ticket level you want to purchase. For example tickets are sold out currently for Onyx level seating (although it has been said they will be releasing additional Onyx level tickets closer to filming time). For teams performing for the filming but not competing, that's a strange situation. You're competing in the two day correct ? If so, in my opinion J5 should not have to buy a ticket because they're a participant in the filming and also a paid registrant for the two day competition.

Also, it's a two day competition for L1-5R. So J5 awards will be on Sunday. The Worlds team's only perform on Saturday. Do you mean J5 has awards at the same time L5R performs on Sunday?

I'm sorry you're having these issues. I hope they reach a satisfactory conclusion for you so that you may come to CL, enjoy the weather, relax and watch some really good cheer.
FYI those tickets available at the door (at every price level) will be LESS expensive than the tickets we paid for either online or through presale. The at the door ticket cost for levels 1-5R is 35.00 for a two day pass. SMDH.

If the athletes did not receive tickets, why would there be an option to "upgrade athletes tickets" at the same time we pre-purchased ours back in February? You can't upgrade something that does not exist. Either way sad that information cannot be readily available to people.

That was my question, and I was told it was either a "typo" or old information left over from last year. This made no sense to me at all. But, nobody else questioned it at all. I get tired of always being, "that parent" ;)

Our team mom is the sweetest person in the world, and I get so tired of bugging her about stuff that is just as confusing to her as it is to us...

My tickets were the same price as what's advertised for the Galen center tickets at the door-
Gold = $47 (39+8)

We must be "twins" I am usually "that parent" too. In the scheme of all of the craziness (and price) of this weekend, I am just gonna have to deal with it when I get there and pray our girls make it through and this will be a non-issue. See you there!!!

Does anyone have a contact number for ticket reservations? I need to change the name of the person who will be picking the tickets up at will call and can't find a number to call...
