High School Is Your Highschool Cheer Coed

@ScottyB who do you suggest? I've tried nice, I've tried firm, I've even tried down right mean. I literally want boys off the team (even though I really need the muscle and their jumps are BEAUTIFUL) because they are causing soooooooooooo much drama.

At times the boys can have a bit of a "I'm special and rare so everything should be handed to me" attitude. They fund raise less (if at all), constantly talk during practice, never have anything nice or encouraging to say, and often come with DRAMA .... I'm not saying all male cheerleaders are this way but the few I've had to work with have been. I have however must some wonderful male coaches who were cheerleaders... maybe its just a generational thing, maybe its just boys in my area... who knows... Its hard though when you really don't want to discourage boys from cheering (and often seeing other boys on a team will attract even more boys) when you need the strength.

I guess i fell the im special and rare part just a tad i know that if i really really wanted too i could slack on warmups during practice leg lifts pstt but not stunting

One time when I was in high school a boy came to watch practice because he was interesting in joining. The administration turned him down because apparently only girls were allowed to cheer....absolutely ridiculous. He ended up moving towns anyways and was on a pretty good worlds team

We have a boy for the first time this year and he is one of the most respectful kids on the team! He is great. Taught himself all tumbling now we're teaching him to stunt. Not sure what we will do for competitions but we think he deserves the chance to compete. I wish UCA would allow one boy in the all girl divisions!!

Unfortunately you guys would have to go small coed, and that is a pretty tough division w/ Sparkman, etc.

Small coed is a Great division!! I would not mind the challenge of switching divisions I just wish there was a one boy or less exception. At some local competitions this is the case. It is just difficult to hit the coed score sheet with one boy especially when he is just learning to stunt. I don't think one boy gives teams a huge advantage over an all girl squad. I'd say teams who are allowed to have tiny 7th grade flyers have a bigger advantage! Just my opinion. Don't think rules will ever change!

We only have 1 boy, so even though we are technically a coed team, we compete as all girl.
