And Gaelic. Sometimes to amuse myself I go on a site that has Irish Gaelic names and how they're pronouced in English. Because why wouldn't Aoife be pronounced Eva:)
I tried to convince dh to have our oldest's middle name be Maebh but he wasn't having any part of that. My friend's daughter is Eabha, pronounced Ava.

One of my friends wants to give one of her future kids the Welsh name Rhys which is pronounced Reece since its one of the more tamer Welsh names

For those of you complaining about the cost of college: have your kids check out European colleges. I don't know how much it is in Great Britain or Ireland (would be easiest language wise), but in Germany you basically only pay for living expenses and then a small fee each semester (they range from about €100 to about €600 as far as I know). Even when you add in flights forth and back, you might get your college education for a lot less money than you would need to pay in the US.
Even when they're not citizens of the country? I can understand having it cheap for citizens, educating the people that will eventually run the country and all, but is it really that good for international students too?

I know a little boy named Rhys! I didn't know it was welsh though, I just thought it was his parents trying to make his name trendy looking haha.

Yep! It's super common over there. I noticed a lot of names have a y in them.

Put your child in Irish dance. You won't even have to go on a website - you can just learn a new one every week.

My daughter's middle name is Siobhan (pronounced Sha-vonne) but I think that one's pretty common. I wanted to name her Saoirse but her dad wouldn't let me.

haha back in the day I was taught Irish dance by a woman named Carlene...who was the mother to Mairéad, Deireann, Bridget, and Ciara. I'm still not 100% sure how to pronounce her oldest daughter's name.

Do they still make the cheer OverStretch videos with @King , Lark, Adam, Andre, etc. I can't find any recent ones.

I am thinking of going to Glasgow to watch gymnastics worlds this year because I have direct flight to there. and I would buy floor ticket which are super close to the floor. But flight, hotel and tickets are around $400 which is a lot for poor student which monthly salary is $600 :(

My university used to be free/very cheap for international students, but now it's about $9 000-25 000 a year :(

Nope, you basically only have the semester fee and sometimes (very rarely) other fees, but nothing even comes close to the tuition you have to pay in the US. Oh, and our books are also a lot cheaper. I'd say the books for one course are on average between €20 and €50 (unless you study something that is very book-heavy or uses a lot of English textbooks - those are a lot more expensive).

For those further interested I found this link. The semester fee can vary though. At my uni it is half of what you have to pay in Cologne.

And if you don't want your kid to live all alone in a foreign country, there is also the Fernuniversität Hagen where you take almost all of your classes online, you only have to be present for your tests and one seminar, although you could arrange to take your tests wherever you live.

Here in my college in Ireland it is free for Irish and EU students to attend. The cost for international students to attend is between $16000 and $22000 per annum and we have a huge American population because of the slightly lower fees and the language benefits.

At least you spelled it the "right" way (and I love that name btw). My cousin's college roommate was Shavonne - spelled Shavonne.

My middle name is Siobhan, but I think we've already had this discussion

If I ever have a daughter her middle name will be Saoirse, if I can find a first name that flows with it, to keep up the tradition of a black girl with a random Irish name.

although I should probably just go all out and name her Ireland Saoirse and tell people she's kind of like a junior but not really.
