All-Star Cheer Updates App

I am excited about the future of this platform. Many people think CU's reporting is inaccurate. People need to remember he is not reporting actual judges comments or scores, only what he is viewing and sees at that time. No one should ever take the observations to the bank as gospel( I think that gets lost sometimes). It is only CU's opinion and it typically does not exactly mirror the score sheets. He is normally overly critical IMO which I believe is good for the sport.

Random, but I played Cheer Updates for the boards during UCA HS nationals (watching from the stream for those who couldn't watch.)

It's harder than it looks!

I can't imagine how hard it is to do it in person!

I'd rather download the Twitter app for free then follow CU. Is there a point? If the CU app were free (with the $5 option to remove ads) I would maybe download it.

Also why does $5 for an app seem so steep? Most apps I see are 1-2 dollars. And you still get ads when you pay for this app? No thanks.

Does anyone have screenshots? I want to see them.
Right now there's a lot of "then don't buy it!" "enjoy your fries!" responses to kids complaining and comparing the price. IMO it's unprofessional to fire back and block teens. I get it's your new project and you're proud but it's not like a bunch of people haven't already coughed up the dough.

They clearly were focused on getting it out in time for worlds and not too concerned about design. I will say though having an app that works is far better than one that looks good. I have seen many apps that look great but don't work so at least there's that.

Simple/unfinished design is one thing but the font colors. my eyes  the red and the blue are painful. and the shadows.

Yes the design is very rough, to say the least. That is very easily fixed in an app. The important piece to watch is how the app functions during worlds. If it works as advertised, it should be a benefit. If it's slow or clunky????

May wanna stick to Twitter.

Only time will tell. For me, not having to sift through Twiiter is worth it to me. Others love to hit the refresh button which is fine as well. [emoji1360]

I mean the comments he was leaving. But the app looks pretty good.

I bought it mainly just because I can. CU started out a lot snarkier than he has been in the last few years. I realize some of that is because he's not the only one doing the feed anymore.

I always snicker at the people saying they won't pay for something they can get for free. Well, information and timing are all critical and are usually things that people WILL pay for. That's why "pay per view" is a thing when people could just wait and watch the replays for free.

I don't know what his business model is right now and I don't really care. He's not a judge and not determining results.

If you want to complain about something, complain about the gym owners/coaches/consultants that choreograph or do other routine help and then sit on judging panels at competitions. Think that might be a conflict??

**Worlds 2016 is likely my last Worlds. Please say hello.**

It's free for 2016... But will it be free next year? Or will the app price go up and the free Twitter feed go away. Hmmm [emoji848]

It is my understanding that once you "buy" the app all the upgrades and version updates are always included. I have never purchased an app that has then tried to charge me more for upgrades.

In app purchases, yes, but not a fee once purchased. There may be an option to, for example, to see this exclusive content or streaming feed purchase here. (This is all hypothetical and guessing of course)

Finally looked at the blog. It looks pretty interesting. I'm sure many will buy. I'm probably not going to, but time will tell if it gets good ratings. I wonder if the Twitter account will be non existent if the app takes off or even if it doesn't. Seem like more work for them-if their reason was due to cost/time etc..-to have to manage two accounts.
