I'm in tears for Verniaiev... the Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation needed this win, they barely have a proper facility to train in as it is.

Can USAG donate some funds to them please...

I need a few days to process this; hoping Verniaiev wins the PB EF.

I couldn't be on fierceboard at the time because I was way too nervous but so proud of my boy Max Whitlock!!! What a champ. He wanted to be a respected all-around gymnast and here he is a bronze medalist. Hoping he can become our first Olympic champion on PH and praying he will carry on with gymnastics till 2020. Super proud of Nile Wilson also, 20 years old and placing 8th in his first Olympic games - the future is bright for him as an AA! What a great night for GB with many medals but two of our gymnasts in the top 8; the only other country in which did that was China.

HELLO that All Around final was insane.

Someone needs to start telling Sam meets start like an hour and a half before they do. Because he's so sketchy for the first 2/3 rotations then decides to show up when it's too late. He said after the games his plan is to continue on for Tokyo and beyond. (Googles sports psychologist references)

CHRIS BROOKS! Six for six at the Olympics games! So proud of him.

Maybe Martha's retirement is just like a SURPRISE I'm actually just leaving the women's team for the men. (We could only hope)

I am just absolutely in love with our mens team, the heart from Brooks, the smiles from Sam, Danell is just hot.. I just think they are the best!!! AND this is someone who has followed womens gymnastics since I was 4 and despised mens until the past few years.....

I have 4 patients scheduled during all around finals today... there's no way I can watch the feed  rude. I'm upset.

I've got Simone and Aly for gold and silver. Aly could make it close if she hits like Tuesday and Simone has some mistakes, but I still think she will come out on top. Aly could also drop to bronze with some mistakes, but I hope she brings it!

Who does everyone have for the third medal? I think Mustafina will be right up there in play again, and I wouldn't be sad to see her medal seeing as it's probably her final competition. Seda or Chunsong could also make a run if they hit. But I would LOVE to see Andrade or Thorsdottir take home a medal!

My prediction is Simone Gold, Aly Silver, Mustafina Bronze

Can someone explain where Oleg's deductions came from? The announcer said he had a start value of 16.5, so he had 1.8 points in deductions. I watched it and it wasn't his best but I didn't see nearly 2 points in deductions.

The USA men are nice to look at, but I feel like they settle for good and not great.

I want Mustafina to challenge for a silver since she never won a silver in the all around this quad

All I hope is for Isabela Onyshko to hit her routines today. Shes a beautiful gymnast and hope she stays top 10 like she was in qualifying or better!

And that Ellie Black can perform. I'm still so miserable after the qualifiers that Canada didn't make it in, I want them to do great today!

Rooting for my home girl from Brazil with the Beyonce floor routine to take Bronze

Won't be able to watch because I got roped in to pyramid choreo for a high school. [emoji20]

High bar judges tend to score gymnast very low on their execution (it probably has the lowest execution score averages across any apparatus, even lower than pommel horse). Most men, even Uchimura, struggle to hit their handstand positions (pirouettes to hand stands etc.). You will almost never see an execution score of 8.8 and above... the highest execution score on high bar yesterday belonged to Belyavskiy - 8.733. For future reference:

Uchimura had a start value of 17.1, that's 0.6 ahead of Verniaiev; Uchimura's execution score was 0.4 higher than Verniaiev; Uchimura stuck his dismount, Verniaiev didn't (for parallel bars too, which he normally does... all those precious tenths) and probably explains at least 0.3 of the 0.4 difference in execution scores. It was painfully close.

We watched the live stream on Tuesday in the car on the way to practice. Of course it kept freezing at inopportune times - we missed Aly's floor routine completely - but it made for a fun car ride. Also got to watch Phelps beat Le Clos on the way home from practice (and of course the stream froze again). I will record prime time again tonight for cp to watch when she gets home.

I would pay for an all gymnastics channel and an all swimming channel for my tv during the Olympics. Air it live and then just repeat on demand each day's events.
