always so nice to have a bicycle stolen 8 feet away from where one was sitting. "i can see it from inside, if i look at it, and im practically sitting right next to it. who's gonna steal it? lol"

year's ending great. :)
My friend lives up in DC and ordered Insomnia Cookies for a friend who was moving away. They came super late and the delivery guy got to the door apologizing for the delay and saying he had to walk because his bike was stolen. They felt bad for him and let him used their Bike Share account to rent a bike to get him back home (they pay like $20 a month to be a member). All he had to do was check it out, ride home and check it back into a stall near his place when he was done. Of course, he kept the bike and never checked it back in. My friend and her boyfriend got billed $1000 the next day.

Noppppeeeeeeee. I would call his work SO FAST and get that taken care of...

Would this be allowed in cheerleading? Looks like a back tuck-layout.

I wouldn't take tumbling instruction from anyone who refers to any type of backward salto as a "backflip".

1997 and 2016 should be jailed. Imagine being so heartbroken over your daughter's death that you die a day afterwards. Heartbreaking. I feel bad for Carrie's siblings, too.

And now y'all have me hooked on Duolingo. I took Spanish for 5 years and have been watching telenovelas to try to keep it up but this'll help way more. Gracias.

And random question, but do any other early 20-somethings feel... behind in life? I constantly feel that way.

Yes @ feeling behind. A million times yes. Since I'm in grad school, it's hard to see all my friends (and boyfriend) seeing a lot of success with full time jobs and getting to do fun "adult" things because they make "adult" money while I'm working in retail and still waiting on papers to be graded and studying. I feel like I'm at such a strange point because of it. I'm proud of them, and excited for them, but I can't help but feel a little weird about it. I just have to keep telling myself that I'm not behind, I just chose to take a different path, and I know I'll be thankful for it later.

Same minus the grad school. A lot (if not all) of my graduated friends who aren't continuing their education have salaried jobs and I'm hourly. I don't mind it because I'm eligible for overtime pay if/when its needed. However I don't make enough to do fun things, or buy a newer car like a lot of people my age are. Student loans suck and I basically can't do anything because of them.

Zsa Zsa Gabor's son died today.

Keion Carpenter (NFL football player) fell into a coma while on vacation in Miami while with his family on vacation and he also passed away today.

2016 can go away and never be heard of again!

I need some serious college essay help...
The school's prompts:
  • Share a meaningful experience and how this has helped shape you in your preparation for college. This could be related to your passions, commitments, leadership experience, family or cultural background.

  • Describe any activities you have been involved in related to diversity or multiculturalism and explain how you will actively contribute to a diverse campus community at Western.
The bottom one might be impossible for me... but the top one... I can't think of anything that's really changed me and I've heard from many of my teachers to not write about sports.
I'm struggling because in my English class this is our assignment and everyone has really deep and life changing experiences and I haven't.... leaving me with nothing to write about.
:(

yeah no to both of these, id have your same problem. The first one does technically say can be related to a passion which in my mind could be a sport or hobby though. You could always run the idea by the professor just to make sure.

My oldest wrote about her performance anxiety issues in cheer that developed out of nowhere. My friend's daughter's "meaningful experience" was randomly and of course unexpectedly seeing a picture of herself and her father on the wall at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
From having gone through it with one kid and about to go through it again this coming year, what I've seen/heard the most important aspect of any college essay is the authenticity of it, and allowing the school to learn about a part of yourself that they otherwise would not have know from looking at the rest of your application. If cheer is your meaningful experience, try to isolate one aspect of it and write about that.

That's tough. For the top one I could do a killer essay about cheer, but if your teachers have said not to write about sports then I'm not sure. It could be considered a passion though?
