High School Male Flyers

Whats your source of information that supports that point?

Who says the aesthetic 'males on the ground, females in the air" actually holds any weight. I have coached all star and high school so I understand the differences between the two very well. I will still put whom ever looks the best in the air, in the air nothing else matters. A scoresheet is a scoresheet and the only place you can possibly been penalized is overall impression category which is bs anyway.

I didn't make that post, but I've got 17 years of evidence backing up the fact that high school boys in our area WILL NOT contemplate cheerleading as an option if they think for 30 seconds that they are going to have to dance, jump, or do anything that a girl is supposed to do.
I have come across those types of kids when I coached high school, if any kids ever tells me what they won't do as an athlete they will never be my athlete. Its the same as the kids who try to tell me I only main BASE or my favorite 'I don't tumble.' Absolutely nothing in my program is optional not for the girls nor for the boys. I also make my all-star boys pay, and I'm the only program in my area to do so.

That's no where near the same thing as trying to force a boy to do overtly feminine choreography. No one gets to dictate stunt positions, tumbling passes ect, but it isn't fair to ask a boy or a girl to execute choreography they aren't comfortable with because of the content.

That is nowhere near what I said, I'm not even sure what route you took to reach that conclusion.

Meh, I don't hate him. I don't know him. I have neither the time, nor the energy, to put enough effort into a message board conversation to hate anyone. HOWEVER, whether it be in person, or online, I have a LOT of fun pushing people's buttons just to see how worked up they can get. It's a lot more fun in person because you can actually physically see their heads spin off their shoulders. It was 2am and no one else I know was awake. so I had to find a way to entertain my insomnia.

Trolling is for 12 year olds. Grow up.

You said if anyone tells you what they will and won't do they won't be your athlete in response to a poster who said they won't force boys to fill feminine rolls.

I'd rather you two clarify how you got that tone from my response, I think that would be much more entertaining.

I think the difference for me seems to be that your post seems to reference kids who are coming to you wanting to be in your program conditionally. I would agree with you on the statement that won't have conditional athletes. I won't have an athlete who I say "you're going to do this" and they said "I will only do it if_______" or they say they want to be in the program but aren't willing to do something.

I'm talking about trying to get males to even be interested. We have little male interest. So I have to present a product to anyone who shows an interest that is attractive to their mindset. Who are my best recruiters? The girls themselves. Who do they go after? Football players, wrestlers, baseball players, etc. What does no football player in this school want to do? Anything that might have other kids in the school accusing him of needing a skirt.

As a mom to a boy flyer, I am horrified that this is even a discussion in this day and age. I also take comfort in the fact that we live in a progressive area and have never had one negative thing said about my son flying. I also am thrilled that my child will never (ever ever) cheer for you.

I have written and rewritten and deleted and edited this post a million times now. Obviously it is personal to me to read that my son should not do what something he loves and is very good at because people thinks it "looks stupid" is heartbreaking.

If it makes you feel any better many on the boards think small, tiny flyers look awful in the air and prefer tall, older looking flyers with long legs. In the end people's opinions don't matter at all. The only thing that matters is what the Coach wants and puts in the air.

I do respect @Ashley for sharing her honest opinion. So many people only say what they think sounds PC. They aren't honest about their true feelings.

What defines a role as feminine though? Jumping is apart of most sports so that holds no weight. Dancing doesn't have to be effeminate the could be doing a lift, tumbling, and again dancing doesn't have to be feminine. My kids don't tell me what they are willing to do, if a kid is not willing to do WHATEVER it takes to make the team successful I don't need them. A good teammate puts the team before themselves.

Toe touches are not a part of most sports.
