I know someone who does this exact same thing...private flying lessons with coaches. Yes the cp is going to look fantastic in the air - with grown men as bases. Every single private is posted and tagged with 3-4 coaches

Yes!

My favorite videos are the ones with Minis/Youth flying Level 5 and Level 6 stunts with COLLEGE STUDENTS and imitating Worlds team sequences.

Tagging staff like their kid just cured cancer like "Omg so proud I could cry! @CoachIAmTryingToImpress"

Like, okay Barbara it's awesome that Mini 1 Suzie can fly World Cup's elite with 22-year-old coaches and be all fierce like "on fire and I know it."

.....but any flyer looks amazing when they are 45 lbs and their bases are on IOC5/6 teams.

How about that level appropriate prep she's supposed to be working on?

Also, if you honestly are not happy with a result, try this:

"Hi Coach C, I saw that Suzie was placed on Youth 3, not Youth 5 as we previously thought she would be. Could you tell me a little of what she needs to work on to make that team next season."

Not this:

*logs in FB*

"Ommggggg so heartbroken for my Suzy being placed on Youth 3. These coaches have no idea how talented she is. I almost can't believe it."

Or

*logs into parent group chat*

"THAT'S IT GUYS. WE ARE GOING ELSEWHERE. MY DAUGHTER DESERVES BETTER."

Or

*corners coach the second he/steps off the mat*

"I just think it's funny how..."

I agree with you 100% that there are appropriate ways to handle results. That's how I live my life and how I would want my CP to see me act if we were unhappy with a team placement.

Unfortunately in my experience, the parents that act badly, like you are describing, are the ones that end up getting what they want. I have seen kids get moved up for no apparent other reason, than the fact that their mothers b*itched and moaned and threatened to leave. And as long as this behavior is rewarded by coaches, it will continue.

Not cheer related, but there was a girl in CPs grade who wanted to be moved to the gifted program - who hadn't taken the tests or anything. Her mom complained enough and sure enough - she was in the gifted program.
Hopefully when she gets older, her mom will continue to be there to help her out ...

That's not legal. Gifted is a special education service. There has to be documentation to back the placement. If the school gets caught they could be in hot water.

I have no idea how it happened - could be that she was just placed in a Gifted team but I know she moved out of her current team to another one.. She was already in a Accelerated team so I don't know why she just had to move.

Not in my school district.

In our school district plenty of parents have talked their way into GT programs without documentation. At one point almost 50% of the students at CP's elementary school were in the GT program. I imagine that this corrects itself once those kids hit middle and high school and the work is more challenging. Currently, I know of parents in other states that say that they get to choose their child's placement. So just b/c it's a rule doest mean that it is enforced.

On the flip side, I know of families who have documentation from multiple sources that their child qualifies for special services and they don't get it. I myself was in a 504 meeting and was told by my child's teacher that "I don't believe that your child really has this diagnoses" Letting an inexperienced teacher who is not qualified to make diagnoses override a medical doctors official opinion isn't legal either. But it happened.

If it's a public school they are not in compliance with the law in either case. Gifted falls under the umbrella of special education. There HAS to be documentation that the child qualified for services, AND that his/her needs are not being met by what is already in place for them to receive services of any kind from special education.

My boss does this with her son. All through HS, if he got a low grade, which more than likely was warranted, as he put forth no effort. she would email teacher and complain and boom, grade changed. He just barely made it through his 1st year at private college and he now wants to move off campus, well they have requirements in order for you to move off campus. Grades are a huge factor and he was denied. Yup, she called the president of University, left 3 v/m, started googling administrative staff members, sent emails. Thought she would bully his way off campus. NOPE!!! Its like they live by the code that rules dont apply to them.

Sad. This is not the fault of the kid, but the parents that enable them thinking they are standing up for them.

So....what y'all are saying is, it's weird that my older sister used to Facebook live my nieces privates so that I could watch.....

But now that she's moved back here I just take her to tumbling twice a week and record. #SuziesAunt
