This is a genuine curiosity thing, why isn't there an so5 division at worlds?

I think the whole point of SO5 was that it would be a division for gyms which were ready to compete in level 5 but not in true level 5 divisions with doubles in tumbling etc. I'm sorry if that didn't really make sense, I didn't know how to word it properly :/

Um, excuse me? Rude.

Any *legitimate* responses?
So5 may not be a normal level 5 division, but its still level 5. I was wondering why the worlds organization doesnt have a so5 division, not looking for opinions on the division itself.

You answered your own question = "So5 may not be a normal level 5 division."

So, in conclusion, it's not a normal level 5 division. Therefore, it is not at worlds.

I coach an SO5 team. In no way should this division be at Worlds. Or juniors. The point of worlds is it's the hardest divisions with the least amount of help from using little ones. Not everyone should go, otherwise there wouldn't be a reason to push to get really good.

Didn't Top Gun SO5 change division for a bid competition and end up going to worlds? Or did I just make that up? My brain does that sometimes...

Personally, I do feel there are a lot of teams that are SO5 and should probably be S5. I thought SO5 was primarily for smaller-ish gyms to compete at level 5 and eventually build a nice S5 team. And seeing super-gyms compete in SO5 with complete perfection and with kids you know have doubles(cough) and have competed level 5 for years(cough) can probably be frustrating for a true SO5 team with few level 5 cheerleaders to select from. But, it is what it is, and to compete in 'any' level 5 you are just going to be up against amazing teams, whether anyone thinks they belong in another division or not. I think it is a fun division to watch!

Can this thread be mandatory reading for every newbie? And maybe for everyone else on a rolling, two month basis? So that we never have to discuss it again?

EXACTLY! Hahaha I thought we were done discussing this issue.

Super gyms have the same issue smaller gyms do with the borderline level 5 kids. In fact, I would think that being in a mega gym would hurt those borderline kids chance to be on a "real" level 5. The competition to make the team is so much greater. SO5 doesn't hurt anyone. Of course there are going to be those that take advantage of it, but that's true for any division.

FYI, there is no "All Level Worlds". There is one Worlds. There are also All-Level Championships. Those are not "world championships" and the event producers are not allowed to describe or market them that way. Winning one of those competitions is commendable and something that those teams should certainly be proud of. However, referring to those teams as "World Champions" is incorrect.

Senior Open is a great division with some awesome teams. Many of those teams are probably stronger than some of the teams in the "senior" divisions. However, from the start, the "senior open" division was designed specifically as a bridge between L4 and L5. It was never intended to be even a possibility as a Worlds division.

I commend you for still participating in this thread. This argument bugs me more than any large senior thread ever.
