They did at least three illegal things: 1) not enough catchers for a dismount from a pyramid; 2) assisted tumbling; and 3) not enough spotters for all the flyers in the air in the pyramids. I am not POSITIVE of the amount of points a safety violation was at worlds this year, but assuming it was about 5 points...15 points would surely have knocked them out of globe contention.

Considering a stunt bobble was a 1 point deduction off of your final score, legality should have been at least 5. I assume an actual stunt fall to the ground would be 2 points.

Reading all of this, I wonder if all the legalities were overlooked because they were a crowd fave. I am not well versed in level 6 rules, but I did see things in Bangkok's routine that I questioned. When their score was announced after prelims, I just figured it was ok in 6. I don't understand how they were able to get away with so many infractions though. Yes, the were overwhelmingly the crowd's favorite team, and there probably would've been an uproar if they were scored low...until everyone found out why. Let them keep the globe and the banner...but strip the title. It's not winning if you are cheating.

My question is why were they not called? Those are not "iffy " safety's ... those are ones that are obvious and Seriously dangerous

We do not KNOW they knew they were doing something wrong. Coaches slip up all of the time when it comes to rules, especially level 6. Yes they signed a packet but like someone mentioned earlier, their could be language barriers, translation issues and when they are competing at both ICU and USASF, it could have been confusion and a honest mistake. Don't be so quick to judge the situation, God knows we've all messed up a time or two. If you were competing and won first, and then stripped of your title after it was over due to a rule violation you misunderstood , or honestly didn't know about, you would be extremely upset that it wasn't caught prior to awards or at least warned . I'm not thinking about the coach, I'm thinking about the kids who probably had NO clue they were in the wrong and were just thrilled to be there.
But if it was one mistake it would be fine, but it was more
1 To many boys
2 spotted tumbling
3 spots in pyramids

No excuse

Agree. Though I'm baffled why they didn't notice those obviously dangerous violations.

I don't think they should strip them of everything. Let them keep what they already have. Let them say they won, because honestly it doesn't really effect us. BUT, make a statement about it AND make it clear that this won't be allowed.
I think thats a slap on the wrist and there have been to many slap on the wrist for rules being broken. It will cont' to happen until the rules are enforced

Where they not noticed or ignored?

True... I'm not meaning to defend them, because they are in the wrong , just pointing out the its Ultimately USASFs fault for not catching it.

You are right, Things have been looked over in this situation and others as well in the past b/c of crowd favorites... It sucks but it does happen and if they finally do something about it and everyone stops defending teams or gyms that do this, it may finally stop happening!

You are right it's not just USASF fault, its:
USASF
JUDGES
and people that defend rules being broke
LOL!

Because they are from Thailand there was some sort of miscommunication? I guess it must be the same type of miscommunication that the Chinese women's gymnastics had at the last olympics with regard to their age. Maybe the Asian countries count a little differently than everyone else.

Umm I'm Asian (living in America for almost my entire life) and take EXTREME personal offense to that racial slur. How arrogant of you @socratesofcheer ...you should feel like a total a*shole for that distasteful joke. Way to offend an entire race, some of which are in the industry IN THIS COUNTRY. Wake up, it's 2011. Somewhere an Amurrican village is missing a person... "The Asian countries" do their counting just fine... which is why they're surpassing us in higher education every year. This is about rules in cheerleading. Do NOT make this about race. I will gladly slaughter any argument you have.

I think you missed his point. And joke.
