All-Star Does Execution Matter?

Posting my opinion doesn't matter because this isn't about what just I think. That would be a news article someone would read, not a discussion. By asking questions I want to see what answer everyone else arrives at.

Only by thinking do we make progress. Most people do not blindly follow what they are told.

you however decide to not post anything about your beliefs, you are not some type of debate mediator, you are like all of us. stop being afraid to say what you think and instead just go off what other people feel.

point proven about my statement about this discussion being useless if you read EVERY post so far.

I disagree. It shows the general consensus is people value execution. So what is the disconnect to a scoresheet like cheersports? The most popular competition in the world, yet their scoresheet is a bit archaic in most peoples standards if you take what is posted poll. Lots of people on this board have said cheersport has the best scoresheet. If execution matters how can it be the best?

And I can always count on one person to really spur the conversation into action and lead us into new directions. This time it happens to be you.

I definitely think it should. As annoying as it may be to see a team with (for example) 12 running doubles, cleanly executed and landed to perfection; beat your team (who has) 24 running doubles (sorry, running 3/4). Cleanliness, overall, should win! And actually ^ isn’t annoying, its nice to be able to watch a team that can cleanly execute a skill and win, even if they have the minority amount actually throwing them.

Execution is linked to safety in this sport. When you have children who are supporting eachother in the air and tumbling, the way that each atlete executes the skills is critical. I would love to see compulsory elements added to scoresheets that require a minimum execution score. If you don't make the minimum execution score, you shouldn't just lose points, you should be disqualified. DQ's have massive potential to force coaches to start focusing on the quality of the skills performed, and not jumping into that race to level 5.

On a percent base what is the ratio for difficulty to execution? 50/50? 30/70? 80/20?

i think it matters but not that much. if four out of five stunts fall in a really tough stunt i doubt that team will win but i know my team personally has had a single stunt or part of pyramid fall at different competitions and we still win becuase of our diffuculty... not at NCA though....

I'm notsure DQing a team for a badly executed routine is right. Everyone has a bad day at some point, even the best teams.

Falling / deductions are different than execution. Cheersport I believe still has the stiffest penalty for falling.

Depending on the competition. NCA is supposed to judge you on the ones that hit so you don't get double dipped. But I imagine no matter what there is a small affect?

Showing scores is a whole other topic we will cover one day. Why not post them publically for the world to see?

i def agree with that... it would make everyones lives easier and show teams in what category they lost in to make them better and not just either the final score or no score at all...... but ur right... off topic haha

More coaches don't want them public than do want them public.

They were given out at NCA this past year and jad the fewest complaints on scoring they've ever had. Any coach on here not.going back because they gave them out?
