Yes, Disney is expensive. But if you move the competition from Disney, I'd bet the International competition goes down by over half. And that would be a huge blow to the whole "World Championship" idea of it. Plus you can't beat WDW with their entertainment, transportation, lodging, etc.

All that being said, yes I do think the Milkhouse is too small. My solution = give less bids.

There can never be growth by international teams if the venue stays at the Milk House unless of course you start bumping out us teams.

i get they're arguments on both sides, but let me put it this way, when they pick for the OLYPICS to be in beijing, do you really think are thinking about entertainment for everyone, or about the actual olympics?
fact of the matter is, if we EVER want to be taken seriously, we need a bigger place.
begging people to leave just because it's getting over crowded is ridiculous.
I'm sorry, but we need to cut the ties with mickey unless they can provide a bigger venue for the next 6-8 years after this contract is up in 2014.
Guess what, no one is gonna come for vacation with mickey if they can't even get into the event!
And spectators are just going to keep growing and growing.
cut bids all you want, but it isn't the solution to our problems.

I wasn't apart of the family of anyone that competed this year, I knew some athletes and had very good friends on teams, but I didn't come down to support a family member or vacation, I came to watch worlds. I agree that the issue isn't with too many bids being given out (that is a whole other issue all on its own) but I bet that a lot of people went down for the same reason I did. To watch worlds, whether they had friends, family, or someone they knew competing, they wanted to watch the best competition in the cheerleading world, and when people are paying $50 to watch the competition I'm sure they don't want to be sitting in a baseball stadium watching a screen. I certainly wouldn't have.
Its a fact that we have outgrown the milkhouse. I had to go at 6am to get a half decent seat and not leave it for the day. But the "come early" argument doesn't exactly hold up well either, because if everyone starts coming at 6am, we will just have the exact same issue, earlier in the day. I don't know where they need to move worlds to, and I don't know if there really is a location that would work as well as WDW used to, but I think its clear that the milkhouse is no longer big enough for our fan base.

exactly everyone keeps saying, well i didnt go to mickey...but im sure those international teams did! Well mickey is the same every year you go, and quite frankly, we arnt here for mickey. There is disneyworld in california just as much as there is in orlando, there are things to do in pretty much EVERY city of the US, but quite frankly the only thing im worried about at the worlds competition, is WORLDS. I don't like getting there at 6 and not leaving my seat either, this shouldn't even be a problem. But it's just gonna get worse and worse. If mickey wants us to stay in orlando, then mickey needs to build a bigger arena with all of that money we ALL know he has.

the wide world is sports in HUGE! they have soooo much space to work with to make it doable. the solution is using their creative minds to make it happen so we aren't sitting ontop of each other and throwing elbows at the milk house worker

I am just incredibly shocked that there is even another National cheerleading competition besides UCA. I'm surprised that all 350+ nationals haven't gone out of business bc of their lack of proximity to Disney World.

How in the world do Cheersport and NCA attract close to 2000 cheer/dance teams to such pathetic cities as Atlanta and Dallas?

Worlds could be in an arena in the middle of a cornfield in Iowa and the teams would still come. All the teams would have a blast going through the corn maze on their down time.

i love the comp in disney... how bout they stop giving out over 60+ bids in some divisions and just make the event smaller? then it will fit much better in the arenas..:)

So how much more consideration should a non-US athlete get in comparison to an American with regards to decisions about Worlds? How much are 20 kids from Croatia worth compared to 20 kids from Chicago?

Theoretically, if you moved the event to Atlanta and that allowed 150 more US teams to afford to go, but somehow lost 50 non-US teams - would that be a positive or a negative? Would it matter if NONE of the teams gained/lost were medal contenders? Is the goal to increase participation generally or specifically? If it is specific, what would your quota be?

I agree that having non-US teams at the event is a plus. I mean this sincerely. I am curious what people's opinions on this are. How much more important are the needs of a non-US cheerleader compared to a US one?

NOTE: If you suggest that Worlds should be smaller, then you need to also come up with a way to replace those funds lost from the USASF budget.
