All-Star Jamfest Not Giving Worlds Bids?

Competition isn't a bad thing. It forces you to be better. The reason all-star gyms produce the best cheerleading in the world is because there is so much competition. Now for the time being it may not be great, but it will get better.

Good point. I just don't want it to make our sport look "illegitimate" anymore than it already does. I just want whatever happens to be in the best interest of our athletes and NOT the almighty pocketbook.

So instead of Worlds bids trips to Europe? That is a pretty decent alternative, not gonna lie. Even if the competition over there wasn't the strongest I would like to go to Europe please.
Noooo I meant they would offer (i'm guessing at large or partial) bids to the Orlando Worlds at their Jamfest Europe competition.
However, I would all be in favour of them giving bids to American teams to come over here! It would push our top teams and inspire many of the lower levelled ones.

Question for Jamfest would be does sponsoring a series of head to head competitions by the top teams do the same thing for the teams and gyms in the US? Will it spark interest, motivate teams and gyms to make the grade and increase participation in the competitions?

you guys should come over anyways if you get the opportunity competing here is alot cheaper! for nationals in scotland this year my comp fees were £25 which is roughly $40ish ! I know the travel is the major expense, id advise anyone wanting to come over to contact a company i know the one i work for pays all expenses in return for the athletes/coaches hosting paid clinics/conferences whilst here!

And you'd be surprised the competition levels in the UK have gotten significantly better in the last 18 months the established programs now have full team tumbling, full out stunts etc its just taken us a while to get there!!!

Travel is significantly more expensive for the US to Europe and back than Europe to the US and back. I believe our ticket prices 'usually' are doubled.

Yes, it was by invite only. Except I don't think it's panning out to be as awesome as it was first meant to be. I am torn on whether or not I want another company trying to create a new "worlds". I have been disappointed on how the USASF has handled multiple situations with their worlds, but IDK if having 2 would be a better solution. I have just been hoping that with time and wisdom, the USASF would finally get it right...
I agree. While we all know the USASF has a lot it needs to work on, I think having another worlds is counter productive to our sport. In a much grander scale it would be like some new organization trying to form a new olympics and then bribing top notch athletes to try to come to their new olympics. I think most people in the world would find that to be a joke and it wouldn't even make it off the ground. Will there now be that many more world champions walking around. Next thing you know every brand will have a "worlds" and they will all end up being like nationals are now. I think it will also confuse people outside of this sport even more. Just my opinion. To me being a world champion is only prestigious and special if you are the only one, not your the one from so-and-so company.

Very well put. That's exactly what I was referring to. :)

Until there is just one governing body I don't think we will have a 'true' World champion.

So then we would agree that Jamfest trying to break away from the rest of the pack is just causing us to move FURTHER away from our desired end goal??

Not if the current structure is the wrong one. I believe in a lot of people at the USASF, but as an organization they have stagnated on getting better. If everything was going well with the USASF there wouldn't be an advantage to leave.

Until/unless Jam Brands announces their intention to leave USASF, this is all just speculation. Their invitation-only event sounds very similar to the 2004 Worlds in concept, but I haven't heard them imply or state that it was any kind of "World Championship."

I'm with Kingston on this. If the current path isn't the right one, breaking away and setting a new path could prove to be the best thing they could do for the industry.

The question is, assuming the rumors are true, which is the better path

Very true. Anyone email and ask about next year?

Agreed. At the end of all this struggle things will get better (or die). And that is the point. You are either growing or dying.

I definitely wouldn't put it past Jam Brands to create a new system. And I do believe they could do a very good job at it. Since I'm not involved in the logistics of it all, I can only hope and pray that SOMEONE figures out what will make our sport thrive and move forward with that. I honestly can't say I have the answers so I have to hope that someone else does. :)

Definitely interesting responses, I'd like to add it was a rumor I heard, glad to see I wasn't the only one. Ok, so now that statements have been made about another competition competing AGAINST World's, and some are for some are against. My opinion, USASF has their mistakes, yes they are trying, but apparently the snails pace isn't fast enough.
So I have two questions
1. What would it take for another competition to draw you/your gym AWAY from the "USASF WORLDS"
2. At what point is "enough enough"?
