As I was reading Twitter updates about Indy I remember someone Tweeting (I think it was thecheerinsider) something about how one team had crop tops for some kids and for the "larger" kids they had full tops. What do you think about that? I wonder if it was the athletes choice in which top they felt most comfortable in wearing or if they gym told them which to get? Also, I wonder if there are people that are uncomfortable wearing a crop top? And if they are uncomfortable wearing one do you think they should get the option to get a full top? Not trying to start anything bad here, I'm just curious.

i would certainly hope the gyms didn't tell bigger girls they had to get a full top. Depending on the athlete's build and body composition, sometimes the full top does more harm than good. like if it's ..idk bright purple, mystic spandex. I would probably feel more comfortable in a crop top at that point. it also depend's on the athlete's self confidence. if they want the crop top, then no one should tell them they can't wear it because of their size (if the rest of the gym is in crop tops.) It is nice if they give the full top option, though..

Agreed. Not sure if the gym told them they had too but it got me thinking about it.

At the gym I cheered at last season, there was one heavier and the owner got her a full top without asking her(she was on a senior team) and also there was another girl on our team that had a flat stomach but her mom made her get a full top. So I guess its what ever floats your/coaches/parents boat.

Yes, we will wear those one more season! But we are starting to design the new one, so we can make as many changes as we need! it was a disaster getting the ones we have now!
I remember you guys having to compete in practice wear, when was it that you finally got your new ones?

I mean i'm not small by any means but I think a coach just automatically getting certain girls full tops is a little weird. The idea of uniforms is that the whole team looks UNIFORM... not some wearing crop tops and some not. If people aren't comfortable with their bodies in crop tops there are things you can do personally to help that, not change a uniform. JMO.

I've seen this several times and it has been done at gyms that i've been at. I think it makes some of them feel more comfortable.

And you have to realize that its not different then a boys top. How many of you are watching a formation and think, i can't stand the way that looks with that boy wearing a top all the way down. It really doesn't make a difference unless its a completely different color.

A nude leotard only works if you are the color of the "nude".:D I think if a full top makes a kid more comfortable on a team of crop tops, more power to them. Honestly if all you can see is the one or two kids in a full top, the team sure isn't performing well.

my team are considering cropped tops (not many uk teams have them) but i have no problem having my midriff out... i am very ... gifted in the chest department.. i helped another team out at their show to fill in someones spot and had to wear a cropped top uniform that fitted fine until i started putting a routine full out. The crop top moved up and got STUCK OVER MY BOOBS! for the actual performance i had to wear black vest to make it look like a full top. Thank god i had a sports bra on but i really wouldnt want that to happen at a competition and i spend the rest of my routine with my bra out!
Unfortunately short of an operation my chest isnt going anywhere so its not always something you can help and i wont EVER be caught on a competition floor in a cropped top uniform....
