I don't think anyone's questioned any of these kid's motivations or character. I have nothing against the athletes themselves. I'm sure they're all great people, (and FWIW, through everyone's posts on this board in the past, it seems as though your daughter has a great head on her shoulders). For me, it's more about the fans that have created this 'cheerlebrity'/godlike sensation that now surrounds the sport. I don't like it. Years ago, you knew who the 'good' athletes were simply because they stood out in their routines (Ambrel, Flea, Matt McGrath, Tye Hill & the fierce flyer on CA with the bob are a few that come to mind), but there weren't fan pages, meet & greets, or crazy stalker fans on twitter. All of it rubs me the wrong way, and it appears I'm not alone. I know social media certainly wasn't as prominent back then as it is now, and I think that needs to take some of the blame, but I'm sorry, I just simply don't like the fact that people are being sensationalized to the point that they are nowadays.

I don't think you can turn back the clock. And I have no problem with being rubbed the wrong way, criticizing product lines, waiting for signitures, uniform endorsements, shoes (probably coming) and WebCasts for TV shows. Fire away. Just don't assume that anyone talking here has any idea who these kids really are, their motivation, personality or things they do in private to promote the sport. Very, very few do, and they generally don't talk. Now, I have no idea why this got on this thread and encourage everyone to promote the kids that have not been mentioned or noticed.

I heard about the Cheerlebrity (Varsity) competitions Kiara and Maddie were apart of. Love the concept of the competition!!! Not only are there fans that want to see and hear from these girls now but even the event producers are seeing the value to promote their competitions with Cheerlebrities as judges. Seems to me they are giving back to other cheerleaders to inspire them to do their best. Good job ladies :)

Zavell Perry "Z" from UA Prodigy.

He has beautiful and crazy high tumbling. Standing double, standing whip double double, anything running into a double double, bounder passes.

He's the one from UA Prodigy who did the corner pass and punched front to another pass across the front last year during the pyramid and he's last pass this year too.

He's really good at coed stunting too!

i thought it was the team getting sponsored with varisty's new "last pass" shoe? no? I made that up..

anywho..

center dancer on top gun (Oreo)- she's become more well known because of the dance, but i love that the whole routine she kind of just blends in and then WHAM! she's so fierce. I love her.

Boy (and girl) on Fierce Legendkats who do the toss to handstand? during the pyramid. and then she like does a bridge over into a stunt group (not really a toss, but that's my best description :)) looks awesome!

center stunt group and then basically the whole team of spirit central S5 - they stunt better than most coed teams.

FCA Diamonds center flyer - amazing flexibility

i'm sure i'll think of more later :D
That is our brother and sister pair= David and Melissa =)

I don't understand why you're coming on here with such a defensive tone, unless I've missed something?

Maison Baker, I know, I know, she already a Cheerlebrity but not only is she talented but she seems like a really humble, nice girl, judging from her Twitter & Formspring. And I also think the same about Maddie Gardner. I know this thread is for "unknown cheerleaders" so I'll stop now, but that just my view on the whole "cheerlebrities get cocky" thing. Sorry for getting off topic.

I agree you can't turn back the clock, just pointing out my point of view on the subject and where I'm coming from. I also never assumed anything about anyone's motivations, and I'm still not seeing where people are discussing that. And back to the original point of the thread as you wished, I think recognizing athletes for an amazing skill is one thing, it's the '#shouldbecheerlebritystatus' and creepy idolization that I have a problem with, as I previously stated. That's all.

I sort of do. Just as some judge a person by their social media. Unless you know them personally or are in the gym with them, you don't know jack.

Then all of those "fans" who act like they can do not wrong also don't "know jack". I would say 75%+ that go crazy over some of these athletes don't know them personally yet act like they are best friends. Again this is not the case 100% of the time. Maddie, Whitney, Kiara, and several of the others don't seem to let this effect them at all, but the ones that do give opportunity for those not so good opinions about them.
No one is pretending to know what these athletes are like at home, except for those who are actually at home with these athletes like their parents and they aren't pretending. What we can judge from is social media sites where these athletes post whatever they want. Is it fair to have an opinion just based on that? Probably not, but that is all some have to base an opinion on. People base opinion on celebrities all the time by what they see online and in magazines, so when some of these athletes are treated like celebrities by "fans" then they are going to get the same treatment. No one is saying that these athletes don't deserve recognition, you can't deny their talent, but it doesn't mean everything behind this "cheerlebrity" thing sits well with people.

We should carry on with the actual reason the thread was made, but it has opened up a mini can of worms and people are going to voice their opinion on it.
