I know this is a lot to take in at one time, but i assure you that the show will go on. in 2005 rules were released that we were no longer allowed to do doubles in college cheer, rewind full ups and a few other things. At that time everyone swore the sky was falling, and the future of coed stunting was in jeopardy. that rule about full twisting rewinds affected a very small percentage of us. at the time only the top 2 or 3 teams in each division had anything close to a majority of double fulls. the rules are made based off of things that happen. USASF, Varsity and everyone else quoted in this thread dont sit around trying to make your lives miserable. something happened, and they had to act. none of us are lucky enough to be on the board or able to sit in on the meetings, so arguing that they made the wrong choice is a little one sided. I know in 05, it was based off of college cheerleading not having insurance if things werent changed. if they didnt pick something, we would have lost it all. remember, were all on the same team. usasf varsity etc have quite a bit more invested into the future of cheerleading than most people think about. remember it employees thousands of people, and their interest is to keep it going, even though sometimes rules come out people dont like.
on a seperate note. has anyone ever stopped to think about what unlimited skills do to an athletes body? cheer is the only sport in the world without an off season. so imagine a very talented 10 year old. they learn a full, they learn a semi janky double and keep working. they will throw tens of thousands of these over the next 8 to 9 years with no significant off time for their body to heal. if theyre lucky they make it the entire career without an injury, but the damage has been done. maybe its because i am a parent now, but sometimes you have to help people from doing things you know are going to hurt them.
in the end, it will all be ok, creative teams will still be creative, and cheer will go on. you too will love it again, this is just a big fight between you and your love is all.
I would love to find an old post I recall from somewhere between 2006-2008 or so, when a long-time veteran here noticed that Varsity was starting to push full tops in their advertising and predicted that it was only a matter of time before USASF made them mandatory. I believe everyone laughed at him at that time.
That is my interpretation, but perhaps we need some clarification. There is a comma, but no and/or verbiage there. I am unclear. Any help?Consecutive bounding, twisting skills are not allowed... is how it reads. I took it as no bounding to twisting as well??
yes i did! hah i put it quotations because i just died at that post haha whats your twitter name?!famousxjoey you just tweeted my post!
So are the gymnast not going to be able to throw that type of tumbling to? If not, i think that is very unfair to the girls who have worked their butts of trying to get that skill. UNFAIRWhy are high level tumbling skills ok for gymnastics and power tumbling, but not cheer??????????
Only issue with this is now some people will have to buy 2 uniforms.....1 for their younger team and 1 for senior teams. If it is a uniform rule it should be "uniform" across the board. Gas is already $4/gal. LOLIt says except seniors. I'd assume they mean open as well. It's for Junior and under, thats how I read it
But would it be worth sending a team costing over £1000, $1500+ per person, to compete in a club division where they wouldn't stand a chance of getting anywhere close to top 10? The UK is only just being exposed to the resources that many of the USA gyms have had for years, they wouldn't stand a chance. I hope the USASF is ready to say goodbye to a LOT of international teams
@bayymorgannyes i did! hah i put it quotations because i just died at that post haha whats your twitter name?!

it better be. lol.Is this an early April Fools joke?
Is this just for next worlds? I would think so because no matter what country you are from the rules for worlds are the same, but I would expect them to allow those teams who already have bids for next year to continue as they already are.
