yes but how does that solve the overcrowding issue? and what if there are no more tickets for my other 2 children... that is the point I am trying to make. Sorry I think I replied to both your post and someone who also replied to your post!

Because, as I stated numerous times.... you get a ticket for YOUR CHILD'S DIVISION ONLY

If you really want to free up some space and use the same venue here is an idea. Reverse the Varsity imposed edict towards Jamfest that Senior 5 Worlds Division teams can not compete at US Finals. Allow programs to choose whether to end their season with a bid to Jamfest/US Finals or go for a bid at Varsity/USASF Worlds.

My guess is many programs - perhaps many of those that many of the athletes on the FB declare have no reason to be at Worlds because they have no chance at all in winning - would gladly pull themselves out of the Worlds bid hunt if they had a reasonable different option for an end of year event for their level 5's with great competition. That was part of the initial allure of US Finals that got quickly shut down by Varsity.

I am not arguing for Jamfest or against Varsity in this post. I am simply pointing out that it is Varsity/USASF that sells the dream of going to Worlds to all - almost making it seem that if you are not a level 5 and going to Worlds, somehow you are not very good athlete, not on a good team or not at a very good gym; fiercely protects that market at all costs including edicts and potential lawsuits with other EP's to insure it is not watered down and makes the most money possible. This has definitley impacted the number of teams pushing for bids since they have little other reasonable options for a major end of year competition. If they want to continue to sell that dream and protect that market share, they need to get a larger venue.

The teams that still wanted to go for Worlds would. Those who think they would have a better chance going at US Finals would be allowed to. Overcrowding definitely minimized if not solved. JMO.

That's an interesting idea. If JamBrands held their US Finals on the same weekend as USASF held Worlds but in a different location, and all their EPs gave paid bids to that event instead of Worlds, and if they did not enforce the new tumbling rules that caused such an uproar it might be enough to entice a large number of teams to change their opinions of what the end-all be-all championship is. Unfortunately, JamBrands appears to be just as greedy as USASF as demonstrated with how they are handling their so called paid bids to Europe that were awarded at the Majors.

Really, $200 a piece... so my family of 4 should pay $1600 for the weekend to watch our daughter? on top of the thousands we have paid throughout the year in tuition, and travel to Worlds? That is def. not a rational or realistic solution.

I don't think that Mclovin was advocating charging that much per ticket, just that raising the price of tickets probably won't be the detractor that USASF thinks it will be. Raising the price of tickets from $25/day to $50 won't scare too many people away.

You are correct. I am certainly not saying they SHOULD charge that much. Just that raising the cost to whatever amount they think will detract people from coming is not going to work. If I pay $2,000 to get my family there, I sure as heck will pay another $600 to be able to sit inside the dang MH and watch it live...

Ive been talking to other parents about how International teams should stop going to Worlds just because of the whole process of getting to finals, knowing you are pretty much going for the experience and performing 1 day, Id rather have all the Int choose a big comp like NCA Dallas and let that be the "unofficial" huge event

I have no problem skipping Worlds

Do you mean international teams as in US Teams in international divisions? Or actual international teams, like teams from other countries? Most actual international teams move on to finals, except for, like, Canada, which is the only other country I think that has more than 3 teams in a division.

As for US teams - All Level 6 teams got to compete twice - in US Trials and semi-finals, only one team from IO5 didn't move on to semi-finals, if I recall. And IOC5 wasn't really that different than small coed in terms of how many moved on from Friday to Saturday - though it does suck that teams with paid bids don't get a pass or aren't guaranteed to compete on Saturday.

Additional venue will not decrease the size of the crowd for the more popular divisions. They need to lower the amount of bids given. This will decrease the amount of spectators. Also they should have people walking around the venue making sure rows upon rows of seats are not being saved. I understand 1 or 2 seats maybe the people got up to use the rest room of went for food but people were saving rows of seats is just unreal. If you eliminate half the unpaid bids that would decrease the crowds. All the teams that get eliminated on Friday and their families then became spectators. Worlds should be for the Best of the Best, so they should make it harder to get there. The problem is its all about $$$$
its not all the atlarge bid cheerleaders/spectators that are there watching worlds/ i do agree they need to make it harder to get a bid and maybe lower the amount they give away but that wont decrease the number of spectators. a ton of people who dont cheer and dont have a daughter or son competing go and watch worlds and they are going to continue to go watch no matter what, and its only going to increase every year. more and more spectotors are going to want to come watch their favorite teams because the sport is growing.

I mean US teams. In IO5 even though they moved on to Sat, to see teams with front walkovers and cartwheels move to Finals is something I personally hated, that isnt really finals when you've eliminated teams just because they are from the US.

As far as IOC5 was way diff than small coed. All teams regardless of bids performed on Fri. Saturday only included the top 10 U.S. Countries. Sat small coed had over 30 teams competing on Sat

Seeing some of the best teams in the country be done on Fri was really sad to me. Its not the same as competing on Sat. I've accepted the way its done so I dont want this this drag on. Im just saying for me, I would not be opposed to not going to Worlds at all for the final comp of the season. I'd rather go somewhere else and get real placements.

It's a given that the venues are too small, but if you have to continue to use them in the near future .... remember that it's Disney ... why not issue FastPasses? They work great on the rides. Split the populuar divisions between the venues as previously mentioned and run the International divisions between the US only divisions to help clear out the venues naturally. Then reserve a section of each arena for FastPass holders and issue a limited number of FastPasses for each session like 2500 seats or the entire lower level of the Milkhouse for example. The lower level entrance would be like the FastPass line and the upper level would be like the Stand-by line.

If you have a FastPass, you get to walk in about 10 minutes before that division goes on and you can sit in the reserved section, but when that division is over you have to leave. You can come back in ... subject to seating availability or you can watch other divisions on a jumbo tron. It's not the most ideal solution, but at least you would have a good chance of seeing the division that matters most to you. It might require a short break between divisions to clear the crowds, but I'm sure that could be figured out and the judges and videographers could get a bio-break.

Keep it fair by only allowing each parkhopper ticket to get one Fast Pass per day and limit the number of parkhopper tickets a single individual can submit for FastPasses to 4 or 5 (keeps a single person from getting passes for a whole bunch of people kind of like a single person saving a whole row of seats). If you want to be sure to be inside for Sm Senior then you need to get there early and get a Sm Senior FastPass. You don't even have to stay there all day, you can leave and come back later in the afternoon when it's time for that division. If you are unable to get a FastPass for the division that you want to see, you can hang out and hope to get into the venue sometime during the day and sit in a non-reserved section. If people knew they would be able to get in to watch a division that went on later in the day, they would be much more likely to not camp out in the arena all day which should allow more people to flow into and out of the arenas during the day.

Just a thought ...
the only problem i have with this is that when its time for people to leave ..theyre probably not going to-- and how would workers enforce that// theyre not going to go around checking every persons "fastpass" and make sure theyre sitting in the right seat/section that they bought their tickets for.

We are in Florida. There are several outdoor competitions that are really popular. The ones my daughter has been to include the Florida State Fair competition (outdoor), the US Spirit at Universal Studios (outdoor), and the competitions in NCA Daytona at the Band Shell (outdoor, but lower level teams are inside the convention center across the street). The girls enjoy the Band Shell on the beach competition. I am sure there are others that are outdoor.

i was a spectator for the nca college nationals in daytona and it was one of the best venues ive been to. sitting there all day with your bikini and some water and watching some amazing teams. nothing better. Ive also competed at the bandshell and its not too bad heat wise/ the only thing i can see people having a problem with would be the sun in their eyes.

I'd like to see something done to solve these problems in the future. I'm planning on travelling to Worlds to watch next year and so long as I get to be in the Milkhouse to watch Large Senior I'm really not that fussed about watching the other divisions on a live feed somewhere else in WWS. The atmosphere will still be amazing wherever you're watching it.

I'm starting to think some of these elaborate suggestions are being made from ppl who have never experienced Worlds. I'm not saying that in an elitest way, but someone who has first hand experience getting in and out of the venues, finding a seat, keeping a seat, etc. I seriously doubt the USASF has the organization or even willingness to try to put some type of advance reserved ticket solution in place based on every gym/team competing. Nor do I believe they have the physical staff on hand to handle some type of tiered structure sold on site, or based on session pricing that involves clearing out the venue.

All of these solutions fail to address the real problem. They all could potentially cut down on crowding, but that is not the problem. The problem is creating a venue that can hold ALL the folks who want to be there. As many have stated, there is no working solution other than a larger venue. Don't bring up the contractual issue. That is not an impossible sticking point.

Does the USASF have any fine print for the event??? Somebody should look into it and possibly organize some type of class action suit against them. I can't think of any other type of event offering a unique performance, that it would be ok to sell infinite tickets to a venue with finite seating. And then subsequently be told "tough luck, we can't accommodate you".

You and 10,000 other people wanting to sit in 4,000 seats....

This is a great idea, and similar to what USA Gymnastics does for their Nationals. There are tickets for Junior Men's Prelims, Junior Women's Prelims, Senior Men's Prelims, Senior Women's Prelims, Junior Men's Finals, Junior Women's Finals, Senior Men's Finals, Senior Women's Finals. You can buy individual tickets to individual events, or you can buy packages (Total Access-all events, Men's only, Women's only). They clear out the arena between sessions, even if you have a full package ticket. I really think that part of the problem is that the Milkhouse is general admission for seating, which encourages the saved seats etc. They need to go to an arena with designated seating (you buy a ticket for a specific seat), but until that happens they need to create "sections" to the seating in the Milkhouse so that your ticket designates a specific section and ushers are checking tickets before allowing you into that section. You want to sit right up front? You'll pay more.
but more often than not people and mainly parents only want to sit in front for the daughter/sons team and dont really care about the other teams..so they have to pay more to basically see one team?

Correct me if this has already been discussed, but can Worlds not "sell out?" For instance, there are only so many tickets for the Ohio State vs. Michigan game and after they're all sold, they're gone. Why do they continue to sell tickets when the venue is past capacity? Even though it would suck for people who want to come just to watch, if there was a set number of tickets wouldn't the problem disappear? They could offer a certain number of tickets to gym owners/coaches and parents of worlds athletes first since they are guardians of the athletes. After that, they could go on sale to the public.

This to me just seems like the most fair and common way to handle the situation since it is how it is done in practically every other sporting event or show.
