They may not have promised this to the US athletes, but what also needs to be addressed is that they told European athletes the teams would come over AND compete and used it to advertise the event to us. If they new this was untrue as the athletes weren't definitely coming over like they claimed, they should never have used it to sell the event. And it's great how they told us after the deadline for taking all of our entry fees and payments for the clinic.

Oh, I completely agree that this was not okay. That was never up for debate for me. Maybe Jamfest really did believe that they were probably coming, but they should have known better than to count their chickens before they hatched and use these kids as a selling point for everyone else. I'm curious to see how they'll handle any backlash. I'm very sorry for your team and for every other team that was so excited to see and be taught by these kids!

what team are you from!? maybe seeing as we are both wee teams we can cheer each other on ?

Falcons academy senior 2 :) there are 12 of us competing and then only our coach and her partner coming with us :L that would be great! What team and division are you in? We'll cheer you guys :)

Anna-grace even though we'll be against you, we'll still cheer you on ;) We're Comets and this is our first ever competition - eeek! We should have a little FB meet-up if there is time. :)

I guess the confusion is coming from the word "we". Who knew? Because it sounds like the athletes and parents did NOT know that it was only $800 per athlete. Judging from the posts on here and on Facebook the majority of people were under the impression that airfare and hotels were being paid for. So when you say "we" you have to understand that most of us are questioning why, if you knew, didn't the athletes and parents know, since they are the ones who got stuck with either footing the bill or not going? (obviously I don't expect an answer as I'm not part of your program, just explaining where all the negativity is coming from)

It's hard to sit here and feel bad about all the negative posts about jamfest when I'm seeing a bunch of disappointed kids and their parents who feel like they were misled.
I was getting ready to ask the same question. Who is "we"?

The CA coaches have gone on record as saying their group had no knowledge that the trip wasn't free. And based on the posts of some CE parents, it doesn't seem like they knew, either.

Since the CE coaches knew from the beginning that the parents would be responsible for covering the vast majority of the trip, I'm wondering if that information was shared with their parents from the start? It doesn't seem like it was, but maybe I misunderstood.
