On kind of a side note - this goes back to a previous convo on here but since ACEDAD brought it back up - the 20 scholorships GA was publicizing were supposed to be thru a joint scholorship program between All American Scholar and ESPN, not just ESPN as was previously mentioned on here. At least that's what the ad I saw from them stated. Honestly don't know what All American Scholar is but that's the info they gave.
I've heard of that scholarship before. They give out a bunch in all different sports.

Actually GA started publicizing the 20 boys cheer free back in March. Just nobody really paid attention to it until after Worlds. Locally to the ATL area C4 was also publicizing "Double Fulls don't pay" but again no one really paid attention to it that much at all. Yet Trinity who I have not seen publicize anything like this was raked over the coals for it but whatever.

The GA twitter said nothing about All American Scholar all they said was ESPN was paying for 20 boys to cheer. Jamie and several of the other athletes tweeted the same thing. I just find it strange that ESPN would pay for only males to cheer. I have no problem with handing out scholarships, but if ESPN isn't really involved then that is basically lying to get athletes to your gym.
I googled All American Scholar and ESPN which lead me to this:
Academic All-America - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

CoSIDA's Capital One Academic All-America® Program - CoSIDA

I am calling their bluff.

I couldn't find the original tweet from back in March but they ran an Ad in Atlanta Cheer Magazine that said something about their partnership with All American Scholar and ESPN etc...

But you're correct during the tryout drama the only thing they tweeted was ESPN. I don't know if any of the GA staff have been in here but at this point I really think its a non-issue. Those that went, went those that didn't are still at thier home gym. False advertising or not, what's done is done at this point.

Right now I'm just interested in seeing what all the Atlanta area Level 5 teams put out there this coming season. Peach, Orange, T-Birds, GA and even ATA and Trinity should all be interesting to watch by the time December rolls around.

I am just really curious about this program and how GA got involved with it...

????? Couldn't tell you for sure but if it's scholorship based they would have had to apply thru there booster club, non-profit to non-profit. Other then that, Jamie is well connected so it wouldn't surprise me if he found out about it thru one of his connections and then applied. But again just speculation.

Current issue has an article on GA and mentions the scholorship so I would assume they got some kind of proof from GA about it. IMO

Just saying if ACE or Rays wants to come on down to Columbus I am perfectly fine with that. It would make it much easier when I have children, but who am I kidding I would probably make the trip to the Atlanta area for them to put on a Rays or ACE unifrom.
I thought there was an ACE in Columbus? We use to live on Ft. Benning and my cp went to an ACE gym for a while, but maybe it was in Atlanta and I was immune to the drive! :p

There was but they closed it up and just left Preachtree City as the only ACE gym in GA. If I'm not mistaken they moved the Columbus location across the boarder into AL but I would assume ACEDAD would know better on that.

It closed :( I got really sad when I moved here in September and heard that it was no longer open. I don't cheer but I really wanted to go see the gym and maybe buy a shirt.

So I was just browsing the Premier Athletics website.. and found this on Michigan Xtreme's part of it (at least this one isn't just level 5 boys).

Calling all Boys!

The cheer industry is looking to continue to grow the co-ed programs! We now have sponsors on board that want to help boost the opportunities for boys in our sport and give the girls more opportunity to learn co-ed stunting.

We currently have 15 spots available for boys of ages 5-highschool (Mini-Senior teams) to have free tuition and no open call registration fee for the 2012-2013 season. It is on a first come first serve basis. Come check us out at open call now for all the details!

Yea, when I lived in IL there where a few teams that always touted boys don't pay.

As for ATL/GA area cheerleading changing.... I couldn't say from before I moved down but has definately been on of the most interesting tryout seasons I've ever been in.

If you're not to far away you can drive up to Peachtree City, the gym there is all ACE'd out. Plus you can buy a 21B1H shirt by e-mail or paypal, something like that but it's not a regular ACE shirt so..... Check on the ACE of Atlanta section for the shirt info.
