Yea, when I lived in IL there where a few teams that always touted boys don't pay.

As for ATL/GA area cheerleading changing.... I couldn't say from before I moved down but has definately been on of the most interesting tryout seasons I've ever been in.
If you're not to far away you can drive up to Peachtree City, the gym there is all ACE'd out. Plus you can buy a 21B1H shirt by e-mail or paypal, something like that but it's not a regular ACE shirt so..... Check on the ACE of Atlanta section for the shirt info.

Just curious, which gym are you a part of? Depending on what post I'm reading I could make an argument for ACE, Ga, or Trinity.

I just get really annoyed. With all of the talk about how amazing you are for college placement, I would think making finals would be a piece of cake. Actually forget cake, how about some humble pie?
So now you attack the athletes on this team for having a bad day??? Rude and uncalled for! These kids spent endless hours (like every athlete) preparing for these 2 1/2 minutes and had something go terribly wrong. How about we get back to the topic of Trinity personally hand picking and calling kids, offering them money, free everything, tv, and yes, even a ride to and from the gym. And don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, because I know exactly what I'm talking about!

I believe Midwest Cheer in OHio somewhere is offering free tuition for boys and using that in recruiting athletes.
I was wondering why that hadn't come up. I saw that on Facebook weeks ago. They said ALL boys cheer free.

very true. a local gym from my area lost ALL of their male athletes to midwest cheer elite "free tuition", but i wouldn't say that was the only factor in them leaving. they had 9 or 10 male athletes, a 2 graduated and the rest to Midwest.

My girls used to cheer at Midwest. The boys get free everything except travel expenses. I begged my son who has never set foot in a cheer gym to go cheer but he adamantly refused.

I thought I was more in touch with the cheer world. Apparently I am not. :)
I'll probably get creamed for this but if you're only keeping up with it on fierce board you'll be totally in touch....with the top 10 mega gyms. If something is going on at a place that hasn't brought in a globe in the last three years, its not getting a lot of play here.

I don't have an issue with scholarshiping kids who can't afford it. I dont even think MCE publicly offering ALL boys free cheer bothers me because its public and its general. I think I'm okay with that. It's the individual targeted recruiting that I think is unethical.

I can't speak to the calls and offers you're talking about here, but I am personally aware of another program trying to establish itself that went personally and directly (and quietly) after one of our mega tumbler lv 5 boys and offered basically everything you're referring to here. They initiated that contact, not him. that just smacks of someone trying to "steal" athletes when they do it individually and on the down low like that. That's what bothers me.

But that also doesn't mean he took the deal. I just hate he was put in that position which was a really hard position for a 15 year old given the caliber of the team recruiting him. But as someone said earlier, it's not always about winning, sometimes kids stay for other reasons, just like kids may leave for other reasons too.

I haven't been here in forever. No offense, but I fell asleep reading this thread last night, long day at work and all.

Are these the facts?

1. Trinity is a second year gym, they went to NCA and someone got hurt on med AG 5, I don't remember watching them, sad face.
2. Trinity has moolah and is recruiting athletes with it. I'm guessing they got some kids from GA and Jamie got mad and Twitter drama ensued.
3. There is something to do with a tv show.
4. Someone's mom from Stingrays is working there, but her kid isn't cheering there.
5. I just remembered this, there is someone named Gianni who worked at Ga and this gym is in a gym Ga was going to be located, and they're using their designer themes.

Am I missing anything?

Who cares? I feel like if the season is over people are free to go where they want. Gym owners don't own these kids or their skills. Every year people move around, for different reasons, some more than others lol.

I'm also not threatened by all these cheerlebrities they are recruiting (just guessing they are because you guys know and are using their first names). It takes more to be a competitive winning team than skills. I fear that all of these cheerlebrities are going to get together and be unable to mesh as a team. It happens when a lot of kids join a gym from different gyms, there are different styles that have to blend, there are rivalries that have to be laid to rest, as well as getting everyone there to practice all while hoping the TV camera doesn't get in anyone's way.

As for the designer themed teams, there is no trademark on them, just ask the first person who used cat names. No matter whose idea they were when they were at Ga but are now gone, it will take me a lot of seasons to not think of Ga when I hear Louies and CoCos.just putting that out there.

Let's see if this works.....

1. Trinity is a second year gym, they went to NCA and someone got hurt on med AG 5, I don't remember watching them, sad face.

- My understanding is Trinity started competing in February of this year, like many half year teams - originally under a different coach then they have now

2. Trinity has moolah and is recruiting athletes with it. I'm guessing they got some kids from GA and Jamie got mad and Twitter drama ensued.

- Basically

3. There is something to do with a tv show.

- Rumors are all over the place but nothing has been confirmed as of now

4. Someone's mom from Stingrays is working there, but her kid isn't cheering there.

- Tanya Rice, Angel Rice's mom has decided to coach at Trinity - Angel, who is a power tumbler and former Rays Orange, at this point has not confirmed, denied or made any comment about if or where she will be cheering - Trinity also has not said who if anyone has decided to go cheer there - Tanya is credited with having coached Angel to her current abilities

5. I just remembered this, there is someone named Gianni who worked at Ga and this gym is in a gym Ga was going to be located, and they're using their designer themes.

- Gianni, if you look him up on Google, won the first Worlds competition and if I'm not mistaken was coaching at GA when they won in 2010 - Supposedly Gianni brought the names with him and I believe you're correct GA is going with cat names this year

I have to say I've tried really hard to go play in another sandbox(thread) but keep getting pulled back in - gonna have to cut myself off :)

I agree with another post on here, teams have bad days and drop etc - I don't believe anyone was attacking the kids but someone is obviously protective of GA - if you don't like a teams coach because of thier personality or touting college whatever then so be it but dislike that person not the program which is made up of kids just like yours. If they want to drink the purple Kool-aid then let them.

GA not making it to finals sure didn't hurt thier tryouts and I don't think "20" boys got them to seven teams this year. Regardless of world performances

Anyone's else tired of goin in circles on this thing? I feel like a dog chasing its tail.[/quote]

Just realized there's a time limit on edits...

What I was going to say was -

Regardless of World's performances people will always choose a gym based on a coaches reputation (Gianni, Tanya, the list could go on but sticking to topic) or the reputation of the program (Rays, GA, ACE again the list could go on). Again at the end of the day none of all of this matters, what matters is what they put on the floor next season.

Yes and I hope what they put out is great, because that's what every cheerleader deserves, to be able to be coached to the highest of their potential.

Trinity sure got people talking about them. I guarantee at NCA next year people will be watching them.

I say worrying about what a different gym/team/coach/athlete is doing just takes away from you and what you are capable of. I think this thought is where the "I'll be getting better, while you be getting bitter" saying comes from.

You might want to go back and read what I posted. It wasn't really an attack on any athletes. They didn't make finals, that's factual information. If you consider it an attack, then maybe you're still a little sensitive after your worlds experience.

I think that giving scholarships to people that can't afford it, but have great talent or a great drive to learn is fantastic :) I support that. But if I were a mother of a girl at a gym who gave scholarships to just boys at a gym, I would be upset that some boys on a team aren't paying, but those girls are forking out thousands to cheer  anybody else think that too??
