NICE! Congrats on the cover! You captured the emotion of the moment and THAT is the key to a great shot.

Congratulations! That is a great photo! Do make sure you have rights to it, though. I took a photo while in Central America on a mission trip of a couple of the local children, and then gave it to the local newspaper to publish as a part of a story they did on us when we returned. About a year later, it started showing up in all kinds of travel ads and stuff, with the name "photo disc" on the bottom. I was like, "HEY! THAT'S MINE!" I researched it, and because I couldn't locate the negative, I had no recourse... I have the original print I had made, but that didn't matter. I hate to think of all the moolah I lost on that. Just think of how much I could've donated back to that village in El Salvador from that photo of their kids. Makes me cringe. :banghead:
Congrats though!!! :cheering:

I know it was asked out of curiosity (from a photographer nonethless), but it's nobody's business if you were paid for it or not. Congratulations!

Pretty sure the person was just curious because they didn't want the photographer to get ripped off because it is a great photo. There are some shady practices in the cheer community so some just want to make sure those that deserve to be paid get paid.

That's pretty much exactly why I was asking. It's a great shot and they SHOULD have been paid if it was going to be the cover.

I asked, out of curiosity just because I don't know how those kinds of things work and i would hope theyd get some fee for letting the magazine use their shot. No idea why you'd think I was a photographer, my posts in the bullying thread make it pretty clear I'm a high school principal.

People need to learn the concept of a filter. Just because you think it, does not mean you need to post it (or say it).

As far as the picture, it's a great shot. It captures the emotion of the moment. Take her out and replace any other member of a world champion team and it's just as meaningful. Anyone who has experienced a moment like that should be able to relate, and see themselves reflected in it.

I'm so happy Maddie has graduated. I've never known someone to be such a hot button topic. This girl deserves peace, and the ability to live her life away from the prying eyes of our society.
