I slightly tore my quad doing a slow front handspring attempt- getting up form the bridge more on one leg than the other. OUCH is all I can say!

We were warming up stunts my senior year and we were the middle pyramid group. We bumped down from the prep and were all the way down in a smush. The other base let her foot go to set her out and she landed on it funny and pulled some tendons in her ankle. She missed the rest of the season.

Last year the team I coach were warming up stunts and just bumping down and a flyer came down too hard and tore her ACL. She was out for the entire year.

Moral of the story, BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR BUMP DOWNS.

The end of this year the team I coach was running their routine full out the week before qualifiers. A girl tumbling from the corner got her finger stunt in between the cracks in the mat panels and pulled ligaments in it. She had to get surgery and came back for state but wasn't able to tumble.

As for me personally, a flyer got to our basket late at a competition once. We kind of just chucked her up there just to do it even though our timing was off. She still toe touched and arched even though she barely left our hands, and as she arched the back of her head nailed me straight in the face (I was backing). My teeth made a gash on the inside of my mouth and there was blood everywhere. It was really fun.

But she got me a really nice gift card and stuffed animal before we went on day 2 so that was nice. haha

Thank you for all of the silly replies every one ! They def made me laugh and made me feel better about breaking my toe on a roundoff ! Its getting better but not sure how long it will be before I feel comfortable getting back in the gym !

On practice this past Thursday, I think I had stupidest injury. For conditioning, we pick a partner and then go to one end of our gym and line up into 2 lines. my coach then stands in the middle of another floor, and we have to race- loser has to go back in line and run till they win. Sounds harmless, right? Wrong! Me, being a competitive girl, I wanted to win so I ran as fast as I could. I won, which was great since I'm 5'5 racing a girl almost 6,. except I couldn't stop, so I reached for the half wall I was approaching, expecting it to stop me..an it did.. but it also twisted my ankle too far inwards, with tons of force behind it. four days later, and it's still the size of a softball. :(

And what sucks the most is that I'm supposed to visit my old gym in Pennsylvania on 4 days to show them how I've improved. :(

I was doing a handstand and I felt my elbow pop out and so I talked to my friends mom that's a nurse and she said I hyper extended :( so now I have to be extra careful when I tumble.

I've never broken, fractured, sprained or twisted anything! I've pulled many muscles in my back from stretching and going to tumbling after not for a while. Not much. Although, I do have what's called "Snapping Hip Syndrome" in my knees. Basically, it pulls the ligament or tendon or whatever that connects the muscle to the side of my knee and it hurts. It doesn't tear like when you pull a muscle but it's noticeable and hurts. I have it in both knees but it's more noticeable/severe on my right. I wear a brace on it just in case something does happen. More info here: Snapping hip syndrome - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
At first, reading this I was like, "Lucky!" And then I'm like, "Oh my god. Ow!"

I have broken the growth plate in my wrist twice, and I think it may be broken again. The weird thing is my doctor said it was from cheering to much. Like it wasn't any certain one thing. He said tumbling, stunting, etc. just anything that puts pressure on it, doing it to often causes it to break.

about 7 years ago I sprained my foot from tumbling into a wheelchair at a nursing home when we did a show at one before. then last summer i did a toetouch and rolled my ankle sideways and sprained my ankle and just 2 weeks ago not cheer related i fell down 2 stairs at Cedar Point and sprained my ankle and im released starting Monday! :)

Hahaha :) I'm lucky in the aspect of never breaking anything despite running into things many times (I'm practically blind without my glasses/contacts). I have a feeling I'm gonna need both of my knees replaced sometime during my life :p
