They have a bell on the wall in our gym. When someone gets a new skill, the coach has them go over and ring it. Then everyone in the gym stops what they're doing to watch them throw the new skill again. As a reward, they get a little rubber bracelet. They're color coded per skill, and they have the name of the skill written on them. It's a way to celebrate. It means a lot to the kids.

I just think this is the coolest idea ever, and such a great way for kids to celebrate getting a new skill! I'm going to suggest it at my gym :)

standing tumbling has NEVER been my thing, especially since I hurt my back.

I had to leave my level 4 class early yesterday for one of my birthday dinners, and youre really not supposed to do that. We were transitioning to standing tumbling for the rest of the class, and I was supposed to be working of jumps to backhandspring tuck.

I asked my coach if I could leave if I threw a toetouch hand tuck WITH shoes on the FLOOR , ( BowsnBling knows how significant that is :D).

I didnt even warm it up, I just did it, stood up, "Bye" and left! Best feeling ever.
Seriously standing tumbling has never been easy for me. Im so happy for myself :D

speaking of standing tumbling!!! Guess who did her two to full?! (ok she did it once...but it was after she tried to do it once and fell on her neck. she came back and did it again and it was pretty!) it's not consistent yet but it will be :) I'm so proud of her!
oh yay! ive always been convinced that Id never get to that point, but I dont know now! Tumbling is starting to be my favorite thing!

Here's one :) This is actually not my kids' team but I love all these babies so it's like they're all mine! This is from last year to set the scene... It was our gym's second year in existence and the first time we'd ever attended Cheersport Nationals. We only took two teams (our Senior Coed 3 and Senior Coed 4). Our Coed3 finished with a bronze earlier that night. In the last awards session of the competition we shot this video.

Coming into Sunday Coed4 was in third place. There were 15 teams in the division but our video dad picked this one up at the announcement of third...figuring he'd get a good quick video of our bronze placement....he got a lot more than that :D

I am glad you are realizing how capable you are to do level 4 and one day level 5 skills, you are preaching something that I have known since you have been 14 and I am glad that you are starting to realize it finally! Miss you Lyss! Have a good season! <3

I have been deathly afraid of working Arabians since I left my first gym two and a half years ago. But that tumbling coach now works at my current gym and was coaching my tumbling class the other night. We were doing Arabian drills nd he told me to do mine but I told him that I was scared to do it and he offered to spot me. He spotted me on it a couple times and ten makes me do it by myself but I ask him to just stand there, I did it by myself but I landed on my butt. I did a few more by myself that I actually landed and I am so happy!!!! My mom was shocked and so proud of me that I finally overcame that fear:) I have a video on my phone so I'll upload it later!

So my daughter has been doing backhandsprings since she was 4 years old and got her tuck at 6 years old. But I sold my gym and we did a lil "gym hopping" to find the right place (which we never really did) and her tuck disappeared ... Now 3 years later we have been doing privates for 2 months with a coach from Cheer Force SD and her tumbling looks better than ever. Last night at tryouts she did her ro bhs tuck and ro tuck and hit every single time she threw it without hesitation. I'm proud of her and hope we have found the perfect gym for her now. She seems really happy and she told me tonight she's just gonna whip out a layout during tryouts again ... We'll see how that goes!!!!!

She's known to just try things and hit them so maybe she's got that "spark" back to get her full (which I was hoping for at age 7 and double at 9) lol so we are a lil behind now ... Now I sound like a crazy cheer mom / coach....

I kind of want to brag on my daughter a little bit because I'm super proud of her...

My daughters first season she was a Tiny she always said she wanted to fly. So March of 2012 toward the end of her tiny season one of the college age boys from our gym decided he would stunt jaylen. Jaylen had never ever flown before all he said to her was just stand up and I'll catch your feet and do all the work. He immediately threw her to a toss to hands before she ever made it to his hands she freaked out. He caught her but it was a mess. She was so upset we had to go home and leave practice early! She was just distraught.

Fast forward 2 months and she made youth 2 last season. Some may remember the thread I started because my daughter was scared to fly and she would cry and say she wanted to fly she was just to scared. She bawled all her first practice during stunts and wouldn't even load in to squish. The very patient coach whom was also there the day she got freaked out during the toss to hands worked with her. Every practice was a goal. 2nd practice she went to squish, 3rd practice prep, 4th extension, then cradles barrel roles and all stretches. So my daughter was confident pulling her routine stuff but any changes or if she was asked to do any thing different it was always very thought out by her.

So lets fast forward to the end of the season...
Several different coaches tried to single base my daughter throughout the season. They couldn't even get her to their navel using both hands before she would practically sit down or grab them. I came to the conclusion that because of what happened last year she was probably never going to be in stunts like that. Our gym last season used front spots all season long so jaylen was only comfortable with 4 bases!

When we started at this gym I said look Jaylen front spots are pointless and they will not use them here. So if you really want to fly you will have to get over that. She was disappointed but I think she realized that her front spot before wasn't doing much anyways. So she has been doing great with 3 bases...

Then we had the parent meeting a month ago and they flat us told us every single team will have to be able to rock out 2 man stunts because that is what they want. So I left there and said Jaylen you will have to do it with 2! She was apprehensive so whatever .. A few weeks ago she came out of practice so excited saying her group is the only 2man that hit without the coaches help and could do it all by their self.

So yay I was proud of them!! Anyways she found one of the many coaches that she loves at this new gym and he tries to stunt with her.. Not often but maybe like once every 2 weeks at the end of practice or something just her and him.

This was her today! No it was not the best but if you could see the happiness on Jaylen's face you would know why I'm posting this. My daughter is not mental at all when it comes to tumbling but stunting is something she can be real good at but she has been scared to lose the bases or to do it single based!

I know it doesn't seem big to anyone else and I know there are some kids who would do it first try without even thinking twice. My daughter just didn't have that luxury.

I miss our old gym so much but I'm so thankful to this new gym for being whatever it was she needed to overcome her fear. I have seen the biggest change in my daughter in 2 months then I have seen in 2 years. Her confidence in EVERYTHING she does is amazing! Now she is saying she will do a 1 leg stunt next time. Lol she is getting brave!

Lol, she actually did it tonight at another gym. (we have to watch our kids like little bugs on a tv screen at this gym:() so you can barely see it and I about screamed. Then I remembered I'm not at our gym and all the other moms thought I was a spy so I sat quiet!

Since we had to watch it on tv I couldn't record it but she has practice tomorrow and although I won't be there if someone does not video it tomorrow I'll take one on Monday!

And thanks:))
