Am I the only one not loving this? I really loved that Marlins was a smaller gym that had made it big. Also, i don't really consider this a merger, as it appears they are taking the Twisters name
Agreed! And I feel like this should have been done before tryouts.

ETA: sorry for the double post!

There are spots available on some Twister teams, so I am sure they will be able to find spots for pretty much all of the athletes that wish to make the switch... And if not Tara, could always make a new team... :)

Is this taking place immediately? Haven't Marlins and Twisters both had placements already?

So it looks like from the first post that marlins won't have its location?? All marlins will go to Twisters gyms??

I'm a huge Twisters fan and love Marlins too. This is going to be HUGE for the state of Maryland. A serious powerhouse. Marlins had awesome athletes and a phenomenal coaching staff. Can't wait to see how it turns out (which I'm thinking will be PERFECTION).

I have no dog in this fight so my only comment is good luck and God bless!

(and is it a merger if the name doesn't change to suit both parties? When is a merger a merger and not an acquisition?)

My parent company merged on January 1 with two other accounting firms and the surviving name was a shortened version of ours with no mention of the others. We were twice as big as the other two, so a lot of times it has to do with recognition. No offense intende to Marlins, but Maryland Twisters is so much more widely recognized.

Thanks for that Acedad! I definitely see the positive point of keeping the recognizable brand name over other options. Just didn't know if it could be called a merger if the name stayed the same. My thought is if the coaching staff, business plan and all of those "businessy" things are merged then technically it is. If Twisters just takes over then it would be an acquisition.

I'm just curious about the technical sides to the transaction. It's two gyms I admire greatly. I wish them all the best!
