I'll tell you my least favorite part: Kids missing practice for vacations all the time.
I wouldn't know how it feels for coaches, but over 3/4 of our Junior and Senior squads didn't show up the other night :rolleyes: Ugh

I like getting music but for the most part I hate the entire beginning of the season. Learning a routine is dreadful for me. About 10 minutes in, I mentally check out and have a very difficult time paying attention. After we have the routine together though most of the time doing a completely new routine is really fun:)
I agree! I hate how sometimes when we learn a dance, I'm doing great, and it takes forever for everyone else to pick it up, but at other times i don't get something about the routine, and nobody will explain it! Frustrating!

well its summer time,kids are usually out enjoying them selfs before school and cheer so i disagree with you a little bit
But at the same time it sucks for the kids who actually do show up. It's kinda irritating when you still have to pay monthly tuition over the summer but you can't stunt or work on things because others aren't showing up ya know?

Yesterday we had practice, and its Juniors and Seniors who practice at the same time, and usually theres about 25-30 people (both teams have about 15) and last night we had to combine with them just so we could practice stunting. We ended up with 15 people showing up. (3/4 of the seniors were no-shows, 1/4 of the juniors no show) It worked out fine for me because me whole stunt group showed, but for others they had to either;
stunt a really easy flier (a senior (16) stunting a junior (10) ) and get no practice
or learn a new stunting position.
Its very frustrating for us. :/

The first time our teams hear their music is called "cheer christmas" in our gym, and it's one of my favorite parts of starting a new year.

My favorite part is the first day you get your music and everything becomes even more exciting!:) music helps so much in the routine!

Shimmy to infinity.

I'm fine with a family vacation, but the ones that "take the summer off" drive me batty. What about your teammates who DIDN'T take the summer off, or couldn't work on the stunting skill they wanted to because someone chose to be on the team and then also chose not to show up?

A team is only as strong as its least committed member. If you don't want to give the same level of commitment as your teammates....then don't commit.
