Is anyone familiar with patellofemoral syndrome? I had super sore knees in April so I went to the doctor and this is what they diagnosed me with. I guess it's just from repetitive motion and pressure (tumbling) being put on your knees and the cartilage between your kneecap and femur wears down so there is no cushioning between the two bones. It's more common in middle aged/older people so it was weird for me to get it at 17. They basically told me to stop cheering and doing anything that irritates it but we all know that wasn't going to happen so I've just been sucking it up. But for the past few weeks every time I jump or tumble it feels like tendons or something in my knee is going to rip. It's not necessarily unbearable pain but I can definitely feel something that isn't right. So I just went looking for a brace and bought one of those padded/gelly straps that goes around the bottom of your knee. I won't get a chance to try it until practice Monday, but does anyone know if these will work? Or know anything about patellofemoral syndrome/any other good braces to try? Thank you!!

Ps sorry for writing a novel

Our move to Texas keeps getting delayed because of other circumstances. We're still waiting for the last step of my implant to come in, both my mom and I have cavities we have to get filled, and we're still waiting to hear back from my college about my tuition that they're holding me accountable for (so they won't send my transcripts). Now it looks like we might be driving the week of Thanksgiving. But I guess it's better to get all this stuff done here now rather than get down there and have to wait.

I AM A BULLY.

Ok, glad that I got that off my chest. I figured I'd use caps, potentially some inappropriate grammar/bad spelling. But I don't think I can handle THAT much shame..

I do believe that I too, am a bully. If you knew me irl you'd be shocked by this. But, I'm full of jokes and sarcasm so by default this makes me a bully. Let's start a club. We can call it Bananas for Bullies or something like that. We can meet up and laugh at videos of people slipping on banana peels and not worry about being judged for our bullying ways.

I also have this issue. My doctor also says the only way to stop the pain is to stop doing cheering and whatever hurts it. What I do is try to ice it when its more sore as well as do exercises to strengthen my quads and hamstrings in order to prevent further knee injury. I do not have a brace as my mom doesn't really believe in braces, but I did learn from my athletic trainer that if you wrap you knee in pre-wrap and then roll it into one big band it works similarly to a brace and I have had some success with this in terms of pain at practice.

This is exactly what my brace is but a much cheaper way! Not that my brace was expensive its a Curad Patella Strap it was only $10. I wore it walking around last night as well as to Zumba this morning and my knee has barely been bothering me since I put it on. It's basically just from the pressure it's putting onto my knee cap but it feels heavenly. I have been icing them as well. I went and bought another one of the Patella Straps this afternoon for my other knee now that I know they work!

ETA: here's a link to the brace I got, but I found it at Drug Mart.
Amazon.com: Curad Performance Series Patella Strap, Universal with Compression Pad, 1 ea: Health & Personal Care

Guys I need help!

I need a new straightener because mine is slowly dying :( I've had 2 Croc turboions and I'm looking to try something new... Anyone recommend a good one? I have long, thick hair (to *about* my waist) that is a combo of straight/wavy but frizzy.

the 1 1/2 inch Sedu. seriously, it's amazing. i've had mine for almost 7 years and i swear by it. my hair is very thin, but also goes to my belly button and is a little wavy/straight and frizzes easily. the Sedu makes it so smooth and shiny. and the 1 1/2 inch is basically necessary for long hair. 1" just doesn't cut it for us.

I have an amazing one...but I can't for the life of me remember what brand. haha I'll look as soon as I get home, but it wasn't outrageously expensive ($60 maybe?...from walmart), gets super hot, and I love it.
