And I had no idea who "Debbie Butler" was until that show. And if she's such a great person why in the world would she allow anyone to portray her like they did? If my wife would have embarrassed my family and my children like that I wouldn't be mad at the producers.... I'd have an issue with her.
How can you not know who is Gabi or Debbie Butler is? Ask your cheerleaders who Gabi Butler is?

Ok. So let's clear up all debate.
1. No I'm not perfect.
2. No I don't know if this is how this lady does act on a daily basis.
3. Yes, I feel she embarrassed her family by allowing this show to air.
4. Yes, I think she put "fame" before her family bc she allowed this show to air.
5. Yes, I would have said heck no if the producers would have asked me to curse like that or do anything else out side of my character on TV.

Not trying to be rude, little sarcastic... Maybe. I just find it hard to believe that a woman who y'all claim loves her kids so much would not walk out on this show before they finished. I really not questioning her parenting tactics as i am her character. However, I do apologize for being so blunt and a little rude.
She had not choice but to let this show air. They did a bait and switch on them. Trust me. I was around when this all went down. In South Florida, cursing is vey commonplace.

After reading this whole thread i would really like to see the show - can't imagine that the athletes and mom's are shown in such a bad light that some people are judging their parenting.

But i guess there's no online version of the show because it was not posted yet.
:-(
It is 30 mins you will never get back.

I hate how these shows display all the parents and cheerleaders as hellbent divas who only care about being on top and the best of the best in everything. I really wish for once that if they are going to show all the bad crap (yes, the crazy cheermoms and all the drama that does go on) that they would show the good stuff too. You know, the fund raisers that go on, the support for other athletes who have major life tramaus, and especially the amazing work that goes into the special needs cheer teams. I hate what these shows do to the reputation of cheerleadering in general.

Just a couple of points. I don't think Debbie said they spend $100,000 a year. With three kids in this sport for many years it is not difficult to imagine that gym fees combined with privates, uniforms, competition and travel expenses, etc. would easily add up to that kind of money.

Second, so she wants her kids to have an extraordinary life. Bravo for her. The world is filled with ordinary. Perhaps she was blinded by that and was fooled into thinking the producers had some integrity and would do the right thing. I wouldn't have done it because I am basically a recluse :) but I applaud her for taking the risk to give Amanda the opportunity to do something awesome. We take these kinda of risks with our kids every day. Those of you with flyers allow them to go careening into the air with the risk of real injury each time, but you allow them to do it anyway. Those of you with power tumblers place them at risk everytime they do those specialty passes, but you let them do it. Basing is not without risk either. The Butlers took a risk and it didn't go exactly as they had hoped. At least they took the risk.

I agree with you. However, my response to this would be...if people didn't watch it, they wouldn't air it. Reality TV sells because of drama. If it was all butterflies and puppy dogs, we would turn it off in the first 5 minutes. And that goes for ALL reality tv shows, not just the ones about cheer. It's sad really that the only thing that keeps us entertained here in America is psycho people trying to get their 15 minutes of fame. And what's even more sad is that a producer will take a show that was INTENDED to be a positive spin on a sport and turn it into drama and make the people who truly love their sport look like they're over the top crazy. But I'm as guilty as the next person because I still watch...because God forbid there would be a show on about cheer and I wouldn't be "in the know" about what happened...smh. When Cheer Perfection airs, I'll watch...with my eyes half covered...all because I want to be able to gossip about it the next day. Yep, guilty as charged. :-/

Sorry to break it to you but anyone from outside cheer just reading these boards (all of them) and the often nasty, ill-informed "opinions" and gossip can lead people to think that; its not just poorly produced TV shows. I am not insinuating you or your posts are nasty; let me make that clear. But to assume its "someone else's fault" that cheer has a bad reputation to the outside world...well, we have no one to blame but ourselves for fortifying this "myth."

Except for the posts by Cheer Explosion Coach I haven't seen anything from anybody she needed to defend herself from despite werkwerk06's protestations to the contrary. It's like they aren't reading the same things the rest of us are. Kinda odd actually....but maybe that's just me.

I have really been torn about commenting, knowing that Mr Butler is on here, but I will say that I am one who was appalled by the behavior that was shown by Mrs. Butler. And yes, I realize that producers can edit and make things look far worse than they are, but, as one person said - "they can't photoshop" -and she was the one throwing the f-bomb when she knew she was being taped and when she threw it at her child, I lost all respect. And I am in complete agreement with cheermommaRN. I think this thread would have had a whole different tone if she was suzi cheer mom from rahrah gym. Bringing in Gabi was "against the rules" and she didn't care when she was questioned about it. I think her response was "you do what you have to to win" or something to that effect. And I am quite sure I remember her saying they spend $100,000/year on cheer, though it is possible that was a voice over.

Mrs. Butler has the advantage "suzi cheer mom" doesn't." Her older daughter's talent has made the whole family well known in the little circle of competitive cheer and she therefore has people who know her and know her children who can come on here and ,if not defend her behavior, let it be known that what we saw was not an accurate representation of her as a person-and that is a good thing. Just as one of the moms on DanceMoms has a friend on here who comes on and let's us know Christi is not a complete fruitcake. I am glad to hear such good things about the kids (and by extension the parents) from people who know the family, because you would never assume that from the show. Again, a lesson for any who would consider getting involved in something like that - DON'T.

Still waiting for this to become a cat thread . .

Just for you.....
