Excuse me? Thats really rude, and I'm not sure if talking down on others is something that makes you feel better, but you should approach situations differently. If an athlete is talented, and has abs WHO CARES. Its wrong for you to try to single them out. I think you're a little naive to think that it's just those abs that get them recognized. There are plenty of cheerleaders who have abs, those cheerleaders just happen to be world champions, and are amazingly talented.

First of all, this conversation started because you tried to insult me, so maybe consider approaching situations differently yourself. I never said it's wrong for an athlete to have abs, I said it's disgusting that this industry is getting to a point that abs matter more, and that if you don't have those abs well then you're not as good as various people. You're acting like I'm on a mission to bring down toned ab muscles, I'm not. I just hate the mentality that an athletes' abs matter more than their talent. Talent that I NEVER denied.

Ugh! I wish I would've saw this sooner... Azune already made the point that I was going to make. You're insinuating that programs like Cheer Athletics do not place people on the correct teams. If you're not willing to say it to BlueCat's face then do not say it at all. They earned their spots, they earned their popularity and they have talent... These athletes may not have the toe full or the double double but they have a billion instafollowers and an amazing, friendly personality. If anyone doesn't agree with team placements please tag the gym owner or forever hold your peace.

Placements are not my issue, stop putting words in my mouth and creating an argument where there isn't one. If Jody, Brad, Angela, whoever were standing in front of me, I'd gladly say to their face that I think it's dumb how much recognition their athletes get solely for their body types. I think it's stupid that, rather than admiring talent, a thin frame with a toned 6-pack is becoming the standard for what a junior or youth girl in this sport should be in a matter of years.
Also, please do not put the amount of "instafollowers" or their personality as validation for their team placements, you're making yourself look like even more of an idiot than you already have done by completely changing the words that I've said.

I'll make one more comment because clearly Azune and OhyeahElgin are incapable of comprehending what I mean. The girls we're all thinking of (refraining from using names here), are talented girls who have clearly worked for their positions and continue to improve. I would rather watch experienced Cheer Athletics flyers any day than most other level 5 flyers. My issue is not with what team they are placed on, what their personality is, how many instafollowers they have, any of that. My issue is that we live in a society where thin is in, where the skinnier you are, the more popular you are, and the happier you are. These girls are being idolized for their bodies, and not for their talent (AGAIN I DO NOT DENY THEY HAVE AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF TALENT), and I personally feel that a cheerleader you look up to should not be because of looks necessarily, and should be because of skills, things they've done to better the sport, that type of thing. Should cheerleaders strive to be healthy, active, and physically fit? Of course. But everyone's body acts differently. These girls are seemingly naturally thin and without cheerleading would probably have basically the same body, unless they stuffed their face daily. Not every little girl is naturally thin, and not every girl is big-boned, chunky, etc., but that does not mean that those little girls cannot be incredible cheerleaders someday that people should look up to. No one should be criticized for having abs, as well as no one should be criticized for being on the "bigger" side (which these days is still relatively small). The unfortunate part about it all is that those girls are not growing up being shown that someday their talent could take them somewhere in this industry. They're growing up with this image in mind of bleach-blond hair, an 8-pack, a 6 inch high poof, and a perfect tan and being told that THAT is what they need to aspire to be. You can all take every seat available on this damn Earth before coming at me for something I didn't say. Thank you.

To add to that it isn't a "talent." A talent is something that a person does exceptionally well and that not everyone is good at. Any physically able human being can perform the ab exercises that will eventually give them a nice stomach. It doesn't require a special skill that isn't possible for everyone.
These athletes earned whatever fame they have. I don't know how and I don't really care but they did EARN it so why don't they deserve it? Because you don't think so? They are the face of cheer. People admire them. They've become like role models... People had this same argument about MaddieG. It doesn't take a kick double to be inspirational...

This statement is everything that's wrong with the current cheerleb trend summed up into one sentence.

I have absolutely no problem with certain athletes being well-known in the cheer world to the point where they are considered "famous," and have always felt that it was a positive thing for the sport because of the notoriety they gained for it and because the athletes that were getting attention were doing so because they had stand out skills. But the way it is all evolving into a huge teenage attention mongering nightmare is what makes me sad.

I might be reading this wrong, and if so I apologize, but how does having a billion "instafollowers" and an amazing, friendly personality mean they have talent to be on a Worlds team or have anything to do in general with their team placement? I also don't think that's what people were trying to insinuate either. I'm sure, and I bet that almost all the people on the boards know too, that the CA coaches know what they are doing. I just don't understand your point and how you equate having a lot of followers on Instagram to a toe full and how that would have any bearing on an athlete's placement at any gym. Again, if I'm misunderstanding you, I'm sorry. I just don't really get this post because it didn't seem, to me, that people were discrediting their placements, but more that people were saying it's dumb that people get noticed for having abs instead of their skills.

EDIT Erased because I let myself get angry and a little too sarcastic. I am just going to agree to disagree and end it there :)

Fine... Don't follow them. I said that because I wanted to emphasize how charming and charismatic they are. That's fine, don't fan gurl after these athletes. No one asked you to. But don't dog them out cause you think they're affecting our sport. They're just athletes. We are the sport... You're 5 years ago. So let us idolize who we want. I have seen no negative outcome besides your negative perspective.

I can't wait until you're "5 years ago" and see my point. It will happen.

This is one of the most ignorant posts I have ever encountered in the 4+ years I have been on this board. You should be awarded a medal.

Omg you're so rude. That's fine. You don't have to understand the little fads and crazes but stay out of the way. You're just introducing negativity that wasn't there in the first place.
