Coed Elite placed first in Large Coed at Battle, Top Gun second. Both hit day, TG had a bobble. The bid declaration for Allstar Challenge states bids will be completely given out by the choice of the EP, but the two paid bids will not go to two teams from the same gym. (I believe that's right? Can someone confirm?) CEA Senior Elite received a paid bid and the second paid went to Top Gun even though they placed second to Coed Elite. Apparently Top Gun did not think this was fair.

Thank you, dear. :).

Very classy, TG.

Respectfully I hope that TGLC checked with the EP prior to 'giving away' 25k that belongs to the EP. Yes it is a nice gesture, I am just not sure I agree with it. It would be like being invited to a Bowl Game and declining but rsvp'ing for another team in your conference....I don't think its their place to decide.
yes they did check before offering it to coed elite

Awesome, I'm glad. I expected nothing less from Victor and the TG staff.

In that case I think Allstar Challenge screwed up a little here. They could have had Top Gun decline the bid and extend the bid to Coed Elite after that. As it stands now it looks a little bit like ASC will have a team they didn't exactly want representing them at Worlds. If it's their money and they market their bids as EP's choice, they should have made it a little more known that Coed Elite was their next choice. Not just who Top Gun thought should get it.

But maybe this is my PR side coming out again.

The lack of a skirt around the floor didn't cause his injury.
I sincerely hope not. But I still contend there should absolutely be a padded skirt around the performance floor rather than an abrupt 6 inch drop off. Nothing good can come from that and while a skirt may not save an injury it's at least some protection against one for a tumbler that goes OOB. How many of those do we see in a competition that over rotate and step back off the mat into the red pad?

while i agree with what you said, i'll add in some clarity for the GA athlete.
what appears to be in video that i have, he definitely injured himself after landing a seemingly solid double to the corner. he definitely landed ON the floor and not out of bounds. So i'm guessing he may have just landed awkwardly.
Hope his recovery is speedy!

Speaking as the athletic trainer for the event, the floor had nothing to do with his injury. We all wish him a speedy recovery. He was remarkably calm for what had happened. Get well soon, Shane!

On a side note, I was standing there as TGLC ran around the corner to where Coed Elite was standing, and got to hear Drew Tyler give the most heart touching speech to CEA about why they were doing it. TGLC with that routine, and that big heart... They gained this guy as a fan. I want a TG tee shirt to wear during worlds! (In between CEA performances, of course)

I hope he recovers quickly as well. I hate to see that. But they can bring him his championship backpack :) they came from behind to beat my CPs team.

Amazing what Top Gun did. I would think it's because they felt Coed Elite deserved it since they won the division. cheerupdates said the bid was originally given to TG because the competition company reserves the right not to give the paid bids to the same program

Wow ! That picture brought tears to my eyes ! I was NOT expecting that so early in the morning (before 8am...). That was a very, very classy thing to do !

On another topic, I may bring cheer superstitions to a whole new level : I noticed SE seems to hit just fine if I am asleep while they go on . It was true for their last two performances at least...

I was at their past 2 Worlds wins but this past year I slept through them winning Worlds, lol.

Hearing rumors that American Cheer Flyers outscored Black Ops in Medium Coed at GSSA Super 6. But they awards bids based off who they want, not scores.
Black ops got a massive penalty for fliers not holding on long enough in rewinds. 19 points off, putting us in second based on score.

Umm possibly... But black ops was in first going into today and both teams hit day 2. I don't know about scores from the super six performance.

But I'm pretty sure gssa does EP's choice for paid bids, not scores.
Black ops was deducted for a safety penalty in rewinds, putting us in second
