At least your cp got hers. My cp's team won, but they ran out of jackets!
#lastawardssessionprobs #gettinitinthemail

Yes, I heard and talked to a mom about them running out and they were told to come back in the evening for them... You know, congratulations on the win and now I feel like a totally ungrateful douchebag for complaining and not appreciating what our children have accomplished and with my daughter this was her 1st experience at NCA and she accomplished this great feat and look at me I am raining on the their parade by complaining. I am going to sit in the corner and shut-up now!!!

Btw, I meant to say medals and not metals in my post about Olympic medals...

Please don't bite me for posting this but I just want to start an discussion.

Do you the teams that don't have to plane travel to competitions have an advantage over other teams? Purely saying this because in 6/10 Sr L5 and 6 divisions the winner hailed from Texas. (Woodlands Elite Generals, SOT A-Team, SOT Royalty, CA Panthers, CA Claw 6 and CA Ladykatz)
Other division winners were from further out - Florida, California and Kentucky.
Or is it just because Texas is the state of cheerleading haha!

I feel like maybe they didn't have to deal with the stress of traveling. Now I'm no expert and maybe some did drive hours to the competition. But I feel like traveling is so draining! So maybe there is an advantage because of that.

This is probably THE stupidest question ever, but I'm going to ask it: would it be possible for a non-level 5 team to win Grand Champion? I mean, say a level 5 team were RIDICULOUSLY clean. I mean so clean, it's not even funny. Like, UNbelieveably clean. Or a level 2/3 team? Would they have a chance?

in general, yes. But we're kind of unsure on how it works at NCA, because there was a team (CAO Elite Superstars) with higher than 98.88% perfection but Nfinity still got it. It may be just out of worlds divisions at NCA

I love CAO Elite! They have great level 1 choreography (I can't stand when level 1 teams get boring dances).

I think it does.....it has to do with the sweet tea down here in the Lone star state ;)

I wish if they did only take the Worlds divisions in consideration for Grand Champs then they'd to a grand champ of the lower levels. Or if they did like division champ how a lot of other comps do it (highest scorer of all levels 3s senior, junior, youth, whatever). Idk, I've just always liked when comps did that.

They do "Herkie High Point" for each level 1-4 and then grand champ for 5 & 6. I kind of wish they did high point for 5 & 6 too and then took all into consideration for grand champ.
High point winners were
L1 Woodlands Elite - Rangers (LJ)
L2 CAO Elite - Celebrities (SS) (highest % perfection of whole comp)
L3 Laredo All American (SS)
L4 Georgia All Stars (SSC)

They do the Herkie High Point award for levels 1-4

I'm sure some logistics are travel, but also consider- these Texas teams have constant, CONSISTENT competition at ALL levels, all the time (minus level 5s but even then, if it's small senior you still have a good amount). You HAVE to be competitive at every competition for all levels, otherwise nobody would choose you over the other 5-10 gyms. Even other big states don't have the same amount (I suspect Cali's problem is that you have 2 or 3 mega gyms which makes it harder to have good competition). It, by definition, makes you a better competitor. You're growing these talented kids from tinys on up. Not that surprising, really.

Also- a closer comp means the Texas gyms are bringing ALL their teams (as opposed to just some), meaning that you're more likely to have a TX winner just by odds.

Dumb question but do Dallas area teams stay in hotels for NCA? I would think no, but then again I think it would be really weird to just go home after nationals and come again the next morning. Seems like it wouldn't feel like nationals and it would be harder to keep the teams focused when they could just go hang out with friends after day 1. Maybe it's only weird to me bc I've never lived close enough to a big competition to worry about that.
