Anyone have an update on the athlete from Midwest Cheer Elite who ended up in the ICU with sepsis? I've been praying for her and her family. How scary it must have been for her parents to get that phone call.

She posted "I've come to understand the health issues I have that will become a life long battle for me, but my parents and I are going to do everything we can to control this." Is toxic shock syndrome a recurring thing? If not it sounds like through this they discovered something that is.

Pure speculation here, but these overwhelming infectious situations can have secondary effects or primary causes that were undetected until something like this happens. Viral cardiomyopathy for example can result. Also, the medications that are often needed to support circulation can cause damage to systems like kidney function. She is a very lucky girl that she got medical attention when she did.

Was I rooting for Orange to win? No. But can I admit that they were fantabulous? Yes. I can appreciate a routine where I can tell what's happening and don't have to look at five things at once. (I was rooting for Stars, so this is not a blow to any team that has lots of things going on in a routine.)

Everyone's all like "Stingrays can do no wrong!" till they win Worlds :D

In year's past, I feel like there have been teams who have won Worlds with big mistakes. Although the scoring this year was a little skeptical in some areas, I feel like the judges did a pretty good job at getting the winners right. This year it seemed like if you made any sort of mistake, there was a slim to none chance that you would win (F5 for example). While in year's past, I feel like teams who made major mistakes, were still in the running (not going to name specifics). I think that the winners in each division were accurate based on who hit and executed, as opposed to who didn't. Having competed at Worlds multiple times and being a spectator for the third year in a row... It was nice to finally feel like the judges really got things right. JMO.

I would still like to see a Small Senior breakdown, though...... Totally agree about Lady Lightning winning but I would love to see a breakdown of the rest of the division.

I'm still waiting on scores, mainly small coed!

This was from her coach on Facebook

Yesterday around 3pm - "Went to see Ally today... Still in ICU but meds seem to be kicking in and they are working on getting her body to keep her blood pressure stable. Was definitely Toxic Shock Syndrome so it's good she was taken to the hospital right away!!"

Last night - "Yes it's definitely Toxic Shock Syndrome... Still in ICU but calling tomorrow for an update ... I believe if they can get her body to regulate its own blood pressure without the meds then she could be moved to a step down floor"

that's so crazy to me. and not just sepsis, toxic shock. you always hear about TSS and each month the tampon box warns you about it.. but i started to think it was a myth because no one actually got it. did she have any symptoms prior to the fever and shaking? or did it hit that fast? (and i really, really hope symptoms were not ignored because worlds week and "the show must go on") that's terrifying, either way. prayers for her and her family!

Just saw the LgCoed scores posted by CheerUpdates2. Did we ever see a day 1 breakdown? I think I heard Cheetahs had 8 points in deductions. What did TGLC have for goodness sakes to move up so significantly? I don't remember there routine being so tragic day 1. Someone help me understand how scores change so dramatically from one day to the next.
