All-Star Gym Charging Too Much?

Admittedly I taught social studies for a reason...that reason being math :)

So am I right in adding this up to be roughly $4700 for the year or am I double counting something?
I think it's 4407 but close lol

I think it's similar to others

Another gym in our area is just over $3800 according to their packet which says based off last year so the fee may have gone up. So about 600$ less than us. The also attend 3 less competitions then us and none of them being out of state as they are not as big of comps as ours.

The savings in their fees come in several places.

Their uniform is about 150 cheaper so after the first year that savings wouldn't make a difference.
Their choreography is about 160 cheaper but they only hire a choreographer for their upper levels and we hire choreographers from Top Gun and WC and people like that and we do it for every team. So that may be some of it as well.
We go to more competitions/ larger ones so we should have higher comp fees at 1025$ but their comp fees say 1050$ so they are actually paying more. Maybe because they don't take advantage of early bird pricing? I'm not sure.
We also get 3 shirts for Nationals and they get one so that's the other savings.
Our tumbling class is included their class is not.
So I think in the end we are comparable to a small gym in the area. I got all that off their packet so it may not be 100 percent accurate.

Ours is about $4700 for the year. That includes tuition (4 hours practice + 2 hours of tumbling/week), uniform, practice wear, music, cheer camp and comp fees. The week before competitions practices are anywhere from 6-8 hours for the week. Cheer gyms are very sparse in NYC so I don't really have anything to compare it to. Plus tolls and gas to get there.

I think around me anything between $200-$400 per month is typical if you annualize all expenses and divide by 10.

I still don't get why uniforms need to cost $300+.

They don't, but they charge it because they know we will pay it. Most gyms/parents will pay it to look like they are on F5, CEA, World Cup, Top Gun, etc - ie the same exact style, cut or bling. What they forget is some of those gyms are either sponsored by the uniform company (who wouldn't want to sponsor them for all of that free publicity) or get the uniforms at a very low price and they in term serve as marketers of the uniform to the rest of us. Try to get a more reasonably priced option and typically the complaints you get is how that isn't what ______ wears or how plain it is compared to ________.

Wow. I don't think anyone needs to depend so much on the opinions of others. Plus, if you want to look like a big name team, clean up your skills.

I added up our costs and including a new uniform my total cost for this season will be about $3,500 (I am estimating some things and it may be slightly lower as I am using high estimates). This includes everything (tuition, tumbling/classes, uniform, camp, choreo, practicewear, bows and comp fees). We don't get any surprise fees during the season. Last year CP's team did 7 comps (6 2-performance Nationals and 1 local), plus Worlds and 2 showcases and I expect this season to be similar. There is also an excellent fundraising program to offset any of these costs.
@Kris10boo - yikes!! Your location has super high gym fees (using location rather than gym since you said others in your area are comparable)! I know some gyms in my area charge more than my CPs' gym but I don't know of any gyms in our area that are that high! I guess everything is bigger in Texas :D

i'm on one worlds team and one non-worlds teams and my season is a bit more than 5K. this includes tuition, uniforms, cheer shoes, practice wear, makeup, comp fees, bow, choreography, music, stunt clinics and hip hop classes. the only things that doesn't include is hip hop shoes (we buy them on our own) and practice wear especially for worlds.

To be honest, I never added up the cost but I can see that it can be quite hefty... Luckily, I worked it out with the grandparents who sponsor (in lieu of birthday gifts) my daughter each donating $1,500 a piece or $3,000 total (tax deductions), gym sponsored fundraisers ($500) and we are able to fly and stay at decent hotels due to a cousin being a flight attendant (~$1500), most of the time the flights are free, if we can do standby, but sometimes we are not able to, so I kick in the cost and any extras when staying out of town which is roughly $1, 000-Oh yes, I forgot to mention, I have to pay full cost for hotel when we go to NCA due to that 'Pay to Stay' policy that they have in place...
Tuition = $160 x 10
Uniform = $350 (need new uniform)
Sneakers = $80
Bows = $44 (2 handband&ponytail)
Practice Clothes=$165
Cheer Camp = $200
Choreograph&Music = $200
Comp. Fees = $1,320
~$4,000
I did not add in hotels & flights... So Whew, cheerleading cost a lot of money now that I look at it like this and $1000~ if I include the extras for food, gifts, etc...

How many competitions do you attend, and do you travel for any of them?

Goodness! Generous grandparents. Every once in a while mine would slip me a $5 when my mom wasn't looking.

Jaylen's granny bought a $5 raffle ticket from Jaylen that is it (that was this season so first time in 5 years!! Yay!!) . She doesn't like cheer at all and has told me that more then once and said their routines are boring. So Jaylen showed her TGLC and all she said was they were ok those girls in the air were only good because they have boys.

My cousin use to do gymnastics and she loved that. I'm so confused! Lol

Last year we attended 8 competitions - We traveled to 3 competitions that required us to fly... NCA, UCA and OneUP and one that was Out of State-RI that was about 3.5-4 hours away and the others were less than 2 hours away - In state. So we traveled to at least 5, which required us to stay overnight-2 days...
