JR did our music this year for World Cup Zenith (Medium Senior 5 at the Easton, PA gym) and for Blackout (Small Senior 5 at the Scranton, PA gym). It's really good! I love both mixes. But we posted our music and was told by him we weren't allowed. He made us take them down. Guess it has to do with the lawsuits he was involved in and what-not.

That is so strange to me seeing as how there have been other JR mixes that have been posted and left up. He posted CEA Lady Elite's mix to his sound cloud page. Rain Athletics has JR music posted on their sound cloud page as well. I don't understand why some mixes are okay to be released and others aren't. Can anyone please help me to understand. I mean I get the whole lawsuit ordeal but why are some mixes off limits and others aren't?

To me it seems like some gyms try to keep the music private for the more "popular" teams, so it's a surprise for everyone watching the showcase.
Or so there's no one singing along horribly off key at the showcase & distracting the athletes while they're performing, I'll take either one. Lol

I believe JR's mixes (the straight forward ones) are not allowed to be shared due to his lawsuit. I believe (and could be completely wrong) that his premium mixes, the ones with all the raps and not so much music, can be released...but I'm just guessing.

He told us not to release because of the lawsuit

i'm shocked that he is allowed to continue to produce and sell his mixes for profit in the midst of a lawsuit for doing exactly that. like is there a loophole? or is he not concerned with the law?

The lawsuit has been settled to my knowledge. Part of the settlement (and I may be wrong) was that his mixes can not be shared on social media. I don't know that his premium mixes fall under that since they consist of raps and personal creations of music.

Well I guess if you're an aspiring singer/rapper, recording for cheer music might not be a bad deal.

thanks, didn't know it was settled! as much as i enjoy listening to mixes, i also find it a little odd that so many cheer music producers are STILL releasing everything on social media... did we learn nothing from JR? he's just the tip of the iceberg for the cheer music community. does writing "for promotional use only" really save you if anything should happen? probably not. for their sake, and their livelihood, i hope no one else will have to go through what JR did, but it wouldn't surprise me if they do.

I'm very late to this/i missed it. What happened to JR exactly? What lawsuit? I don't ever remember hearing about this!
