But it doesn't really matter until they compete, right? Isn't that what we determined?
Yes. They have from now until they first compete to leave still.... So if that's today, they have to leave now. But if they don't compete until December they're fine until then.

True, but now's crunch time. A lot of these big name teams start early (although I'm not familiar with when Cali starts- maybe it's not til december/jan)..so Nov 1st isn't that far away from comp time. Heck, SC Fall Champs (where CA/SOT etc usually get bids) is in 2 weeks.

Side note: I do have to wonder if this is the reason that kiwi was leaving this late. There's all these horror stories about visas and waivers and the like- maybe he figured he'd stick it out to see, and if around deadline time he decided it wasn't for him and now his friend was leaving too, so why not now before he risks getting 'stuck' without a waiver?

Granted, I'm sure CA would have given one, but if you're only here once, why risk it?

Side side note: Had an interesting idea as a way to make the 'waiver' process more fair for gyms and athletes. If you compete with 'X' number of kids, and you refuse to waiver one, you can't replace that athlete's spot unless you waiver the first one. If you 're-bid' later down the line with more/less athletes, the waiver is automatically released for all 'previous' bid athletes who want to leave.

Just to answer your question we start in 7 days!

Wow over 20 pages or rumours, speculation & people thinking they know the story or what happened.
I am a little disappointed in some of the things I have read here but that is the nature of social media & everyone has an opinion to voice ;)
Let me enlighten you all a little.....
Dylan Grant (the Kiwi as everyone is calling him) is my son. He went to the USA to train/compete at the highest level in cheer. To think an athlete like my son cannot handle the workouts or is running away is crazy. It also has nothing to do with being in a different division like some have suggested. It has to do with him wanting to be the best he can be & make the most of his last year before he ages out next year, period. And he felt this wasn't going to happen where he was. I fully trust his judgement because he knows his ability & his sport.
He was with Smoed for 4 months & after being unhappy with several aspects of being in California since he arrived, a week ago he made the extremely difficult decision to leave Smoed & pursue other options in the USA. We understand that there will be many who will not fully understand this decision but he had to do what felt right for him. This was one of the hardest decisions he has ever had to make in his life. There will probably be a different version of events air on the show as like any reality type show they tend to manipulate things for the drama aspect.

As most of you are aware or have figured out.... this week he moved across the USA to North Carolina to join Cheer Extreme Allstars Coed Elite & will be continuing the season with CEA Coed Elite (this has been no secret, it has just not been commented on publicly) There were many many reasons for this move.
We are disappointed to see the reaction to this on social media by many people who we would expect better from. Some of the personal messages he received this week have been terrible. We will not be playing that game at all.
Dylan will continue to let his talent & skills on the floor do the talking.

I hope this clears a few things up ;)

Thanks for reading :D

I wish you the best! I, along with many others, figured that your son was not at fault for this. From what I have observed, it seems that Smoed may not have a coaching system that works as well as previously thought. Your son is extremely talented and he will be very essential to coed elite this season!
