If you don't mind me asking, how old is your son? We are going through some issues right now that are causing me to debate the level of monitoring to do with the 15 year old. I am even considering making her shut some things down. I check her social media accounts 1-2 times a week and haven't seen any issues so far but know that can change quickly.

He's 18 now, he was 17. I check my kids daily. I don't really know if it helps. He still posts stupid crap, just not that stupid, now that he's an "adult."

Ooo just saw that this girl is anti cheese-head and wants the Eagles to win this weekend. Already not liking what I see... ;)
Off topic, but I swear I saw on Yahoo the other day that they were interviewing a Packers cheerleader who was a big fan of the team they were playing (I want to say it's the Eagles? Can't remember how recent this was) and wanted them to win. Why it was Yahoo worthy I'll never understand, I just can't help but think of you and your sisters when I see Packers cheerleading! Lol

Incidentally, recently in another school district in my state, a boy was arrested for rape and then allowed to play in the football game that week. So...

Still. Stupid thing for my son to say. Don't underestimate the power of social media. :(

steubenville football, or jameis winston comes to mind when i read this. i think football players in general in this country can get away with a lot, even more if they come from a very winning team.

Oh I saw that too! That was a girl from St. Norberts College (the al girl team), not my school. She was a Bears fan, we played them on Sunday and the Eagles this week. Lol thanks for thinking of us :D

Concert for Valor in DC tonight, but I'm not going, I just can't handle the crowd or the cold on a school night. It will be crazy, my roommate and friends that are still in HS are going so I'll live through them.

It's crazy because I'd definitely would've gone if I was still in high school!

I'm dreading trying to get home tonight, it's going to be crazy. Thankfully I'll be mostly going against the traffic, but being so close to the mall I don't know. Why did I have school today?? I contemplated going to the concert, but I hate crowds and it's cold.

Going against traffic for once, woohoo! At least I'm hoping, as I'm going from Arlington-points south.

I hate DC traffic. It is so stupid.

Yes. Comparing the two situations I shared, the legalities are also the issue. My son did nothing illegal, so there weren't any lawyers or police involved. I could have hired a lawyer, I assume, but my kid deserved some punishment and he wasn't going to lose a D1 scholarship or anything. Also, the publicity would have probably been more awful. Nobody wants kids making jokes about rape. Here's something about the local kid charged with rape. It's an opinion piece, but it has the quote from the district explaining why the kid was allowed to play. Dori: Hoquiam School District needs to get tough on football player charged with rape - The Dori Monson Show - MyNorthwest.com Their lawyers knew that legally he's only been accused and advised them to let him play. It's really bizarre. The thing with the party punishments, too, I've found to be accurate. We had 41 kids get busted locally for being at a party on Halloween. Someone had pictures. How pictures PROVE wrongdoing, I'm not sure. It's a little scary. Twitter more so, though. Someone could grab your phone post something and you're busted. I was told that, because athletics are a privilege, they can basically punish whatever action they want. Our district social media police basically says "you can get athletic suspension for social media postings." Although, in middle school, my son was threatened by a classmate on social media and the district's hands were tied because the threat wasn't made on a school computer. *shrug* I'm glad I'm nearing the end of child rearing.

I guess there really is no "against traffic" in DC, it's terrible.

I find it amusing that as I'm sitting in my dining hall reading this thread "Where is the Love?" by the Black Eyed Peas started playing...

Unrelated but I was mad about getting 2 feet of snow today but we ended up getting a snow day so I'm really not that upset anymore.

Urghhh the Concert for Valor. I take the Blue Line in to work and I straight-up told my boss that I was going to be working from home today because I didn't want to deal with an already-overcrowded and dangerous L'Enfant Plaza station.

then again Jamies Winston is a complete idiot in my opinion, so he's in a whole category of his own.

He is, and his coach is just as bad to me. Some of the remarks Jimbo Fisher made to and about Jameis over the past few weeks prove he just doesn't get it. Great football minds, pretty crappy decision makers.

More cat time:
My cat fetches sushi sticks. I think she thinks she's a dog...
Also very random, I usually use the FB app, where my avatar looks just fine. Now I'm on the computer at work and it looks kinda creepy and blurry.
