I personally didn't mind this week's episode. I agree it was a change from what we have come to expect to see. I think the idea is cute and the kids were clearly having a blast. It was funny how Kyle kept saying its the complete opposite of cheer when in reality they parallel far more then he obviously realize! Good marketing and fun for the kids. I'm sure that whatever theater he takes the team to will obviously bring some kind of crowed so why not! I kind of want to do something like that with my team just for fun!

Last time I checked, this was a show about cheerleading.
So why did I just watch a 6-minute promo for a movie? And why am I constantly watching full-length episodes about changes in hair color, starting new schools and homecoming? No h8, Smoed, but I just want to watch you guys cheer. No more selling out or trying to make this show a soap opera.

It would be really nice if they actually put that as a part of their routine for Worlds or something. I think it would be a good way to "honor" the movie. I know it won't happen as it may be hard to put it in with Cheer mixes. But worth a shot to me! and I like to see different things happen.

agreed. But I think they just wanted to do a few things differently this season so people won't get tired of the show.

I didn't have a problem with this episode. I feel like there will never be a happy median for people with this show. Last season, people got tired of watching them practice every episode. Now that they're showing things outside of practice (yes, some of the conversations seem forced by ATV lol) people are tired of seeing things that don't have anything to do with the team.

I just got back home from a week of vacation, so sorry, my comment is about last weeks episode. I know we don't have all the info, but why take Maddie out of the air for the elites only to have them essentially watered down with a different flyer anyways? If she wasn't hitting it, I don't get why she couldn't water it down herself and not have a person just nuggeting for most of the routine.

The one or two of those I watched caused me physical pain (the conversations). I know these kids aren't actors, but that's the point- they're horrifically unnatural/stilted when they should be natural.

But let's be real: the only Annie movie worth watching was made in 1982 and features the greatest cast ever: Tim Curry, Bernadette Peters, Carol Burnett, Ann Reinking...so good.

Honestly I am a big SMOED fan but the show just isnt doing it for me anymore.. But yeah im still gonna watch it. Mostly because i live in sweden and I am not a cheerleader and I never have been but seeing the behind the shows about gyms makes me not feel as left out. Just watching the routine videos just doesn't do it for me I wanna know the mechanics behind the program. And some of you are totally gonna say there are other shows or documentaries about that and I know that i have watched most of them like the Twinkles one i have watched like 5 times.

Saw the preview for Annie yesterday while at movies. While I was all set to start yelling at the screen, it did look cute and I can see the appeal of a more modern day Annie for today's young'uns. *runs and hides*

I am a 90's baby and I only ever saw and appreciated the first movie. The 90's one is low budget, campy. I am here for this update because it is far enough removed from the original to even have another Annie, it's updated to tell a story of a Annie that is more racially inclusive than the ones before. I will be watching, it's like they took out the songs and premise.. I love this musical and I love to see someone who looks like me in the leading role.

There's a difference, though, between showing bits of their lives outside cheer and spending full episodes doing thinly-veiled promotion for a film that has nothing to do with cheerleading.
