Just saw a teaser post on twitter from Varsity about a new championship Summit for gyms with less than 150 kids next year.

Little info was given other than dates and location. Anyone else have any info on this?

So we would have Summit bid competitions and Small Gym Summit bid competitions and if one EP had both would they have to have small gym and Large gym divisions?? but what if there are only 2 teams in a division... one from a large gym and one from a small gym, what would they do now?? This is crazy

I'm not sure if this requires bids, that's what I was most curious about. I'm wondering if it is just a new "nationals" that anyone who registers as a small gym can attend. I believe this is the same weekend as Summit? April 30-May 1, 2016.

Cp's old gym is truly a small gym so this could benefit them (and by small I mean like 40 kids if that) But what I see a problem with is some programs that are actually larger cutting kids in order to fall into this category. I would have to find out some more info before making up my mind

Interesting. I feel like 150 kids is a fairly high number of kids to be considered small. At least it isn't at Disney!
True...but with the trend of mergers, it may not be that far off in the future that 150 kids IS a small program.

I don't find this kind of comp to be appealing, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

Ehhh...most gyms are for profit, I can't imagine cutting kids to attend a comp would help the bottom line. *shrug*
I am talking about programs that have between 151-160 not like 200+ where they're just cutting a very small amount of kids. I personally do not know a gym that would do this- but it wouldn't surprise me for someone, somewhere to do it.

I feel like this is secretly just the trial run of whether or not worlds can be split D1 and D2 in the near future. seeing if it's viable and there's enough interest...

but the lower levels are the bread and butter of the industry so worlds should be the guinea pig. sooo maybe i'm wrong.
